Each body is different. To say there is one magic cure for ecxema is absurd. KNOW YOUR BODY. I had a doctor tell me to never use vaseline on ecxema. Guess what! If flareup was caught early, it worked better FOR ME than the prescription ointments and creams. Stress will cause a flareup IN SOME PEOPLE, so do whatever works for you to relax. Stress free exercise, preferably in fresh air seems to calm and help. Also, a healthy diet with lots and lots of water (add lemon occasionally), fresh fruits and vegetables and fish along with healthy cold pressed oils will benefit the majority of ecxema sufferers. It's my opinion that anything that helps the liver will help with controlling ecxema. If this doesn't help, keep trying til you find what works for you.
I have Atopic Dermatitis. I am in my teens and ive tryed a lot of stuff. If your kind of eczema is the kind where you wake up with stains you should buy a humidifier and put it close to your bed at night. It really does work. My eczema really doesnt allow me to do barely anything cause im allergic to the sun, grass, pollen, and dirt. It also limits what i eat. I cant eat peanuts, cows milk, eggs, dairy products, fish, shrimp, and lobster. My skin was super leathery and very cracked. But then I started using Prednizone and a humidifier. Thats when it started getting better. If that doesnt work or anything else ask your dermatoligist for ultra-violet light treatment. If you have something that actually works with out a prescription please tell me and comment.

I have had hand eczema for over a year now and have tried the creams and the pills. Over the past month or so it got so severe that my hands looked prehistoric. They were swollen and scaley. I could not bend a finger and it is very painful. As a mother of a 6 month old and a 6 year old you can only imagine that everything was impossible for me to do. After doing hours upon hours of research I came up with my own inexpensive remedy. Just after one day of using sea salts (you can find them anywhere, Wal-mart under $5,etc) it has dramatically made a difference. It does sting a bit but it is very effective. Pour a cup in your WARM (not hot) bath water and soak for 15-20 min. Afterwards I apply Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Creme (under $10) all over the affected area. It is working extremely well!! I have to share the news. I also found desitin diaper rash cream to help with the ithching and inflammation. If you want to go even further buy some probiotics to help your body fight the eczema. I HOPE THAT THIS WILL HELP SOMEONE :) MY HEART GOES OUT TO ALL THAT SUFFER WITH ECZEMA.
Witch Hazel and A & D Ointment. The witch hazel calms the redness and flare ups and the a & d ointment helps with the rash.
Baking soda bath!
My 11 month old daughter had the chicken pox and we gave her baking soda baths. Approx 1/4 cup in baby bath. After a few baths, I noticed her eczema was clearing up. I spoke to her pediatrician and she confirmed that there have been preliminary testing that suggest that baking soda may help with eczema. It can't hurt to try, it's cheap and readily available in most homes. Good luck.
My son is 2 1/2 yrs old. He Suffered with dry skin and dry patches with blood coming out of it since he was 3 months. It use to be sever only during winter, but recent times this started getting worse even in summer, he use to wake up in the middle of night with all rashes and keep scratching his legs and arms. His doctor prescribed non steroidal first time and it didn't work, so she prescribed steroidal cream. The Doc said the side effect for these steroidal are he may get cataract, thinning of the skin and so on. I dont want to use any kind of steriodial cream on my son's body. I searched all over the web, read 100s of post from other people and tried different things. Nothing worked at first, I tried two or three different suggestions at the same time. Someone suggested BACK BALM, (you can get this in rite aid, walgreens or any drug store. Its $9.00) someone posted that it worked for their kids. But BAG BALM didnt worked for my son, I tried for a week.
This is what I tried for past 3 days and his rashes are gone and his skin is smooth. He is slowly getting back to normal. Hope this works
1. I tried to limit his dairy intake(reduced his milk intake,I didn't avoided it though.)
2. As soon as he wake up in the morning, I mixed Vaseline(baby) with Aveeno daily moisturizer in my palm and applied the affected area.
3. Before his bath time the first day I mixed 'TURMERIC POWDER(you can get this in any Asian-Indian store) 1/4 spoon with 4 oz of olive oil'. I applied all over his body and more on his affected area and allow it to absorb for 15 minutes before his bath. Half hour before his bath time, I soaked raw regular oats(put 1/2 cup oats in a socks and tie it with rubber band and put it inside a bowl of warm water and just squeeze the sock with your hands for 10 minutes or so inside the water). Then bath him with this water and then use baby liquid soap twice or thrice just to remove the yellow strain form his body and wash him throughly. Pat him dry and apply vaseline & avenoo baby lotion mixture. Dress him in cotton dress.
4. After this first bath with turmeric and oilve oil, before every bath(morning and evening) just use olive oil. Apply all over his body for 10 minutes, massage him well and give him bath. Then pat him dry and apply the Vaseline & Aveeno Baby lotion mixture. Do this with every bath.
Trust me just two days you will see tremendous difference.
P.S. (Turmeric powder is too yellow and leaves stain where ever you use, so to remove yellow stain use '409' spray as soon as the stain).

I've suffered from eczema my entire life.(i'm 25 years old) Seen countless dermatologists and allergists in search for something to give me relief. I use to scratch none stop, clothing and bedding would be covered in blood from the constant scratching. I've been put on everything imaginable from steroid pills to creams, even Prednisone just to give me 2 weeks of relief. As of two months ago I havent touched my steroid creams or pills and I no longer itch. All due to something as simple as a LEMON. I apply lemon juice freshly squeezed to all areas of my body (I have eczema everywhere) It acts as an natural antiseptic. Killing the germs that I was spreading through scratching. Yes there was an initial sting but it lasted no longer than 5 seconds. I apply this 2 times a day and exfoliate at night using a 1 part lemon 1 part sugar mix. Never changed my diet or how I lived. Still use scented soaps, lotions, perfumes. Besides my eczema being cured the scars that came along with them are now fading. Which turned out to be a double benefit to using lemon juice (its a natural bleach). Also some people might think it would be drying to the skin. But it seems to have the opposite effect for me.I never have to apply lotion. This has helped me as person who was told my doctors, dermatologist, and allergist that I have the worst case they have seen and there is nothing they can do.
Good luck to everyone!
