A little Natural/Unpasturized apple cider vinegar each morning and before meals for a few days...then as needed...will generally eliminate the need for any OTC medication. Must be the natural/unpasturized, and it also tastes better. OTCs have been found to cause serious health problems including an increase risk of dementia. Why risk it??

Barbara mentioned Dr Oz on TV. Did you see the several episodes in 2015 and 16 where he recommended DGL for Acid Reflux and GERD? These are Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice root tablets. Hence the name DGL. They are made from licorice root extract that have certain acids removed, that might be associated with high blood pressure and diabetes. To use them, put one or two in your mouth before eating, or when you have reflux problems, and allow them to dissolve in your mouth. When you swallow, Dr Oz said they cause a mucus lining to coat the esophagus and stomach lining. This protects the tissues, and allows healing.

I have been using DGL for a year now. It is mild, not unpleasant, does not taste like licorice candy, and relieves the symptoms. If I get a real bad session, I may grab a calcium antacid for quick relief, but I have not resorted to my prescriptions that have the side effects of weakening bones. I find one of my friends has been taking those for years, and in the past 6 years, he has been in the hospital three times for broken bones. The worst was when he went to have a physical test, they gave him a urine sample bottle, and he could not get the cap off, he walked out of the bathroom to get assistance, slipped on the polished floor, and broke bones in seven places. Last week he went to the local Food Max, lost his balance backwards when he stepped up to the curb, and broke a collarbone. No way am I taking those prescriptions. My activities are too important to me.

My wife has a choking problem when swallowing food. I finally got her to take DGL before eating, and she has had few stuck food problems.

We get our DGL from a local health food shop, The brand is Planetary Herbals. They also have carried Enzymatic Therapy brand. Both work. But larger stores may carry additional brands. We do not find it in Big Box stores. And no, we are not associated with the stores, companies, or products in any way.

All are remedies that work, The problem with acid reflux is its 99 percent casue by not enough acid in stomach rather than too much acid. some are soothing some are nutrlizers. but you should also consume more acid to solve the problem.
To incude these in a good relux diet in your normal intake helps imensly;
Fermented vegetables,chutneys, cultured dairy yougurts kefir and sour cream.
If acids low ahave some himalayan salt is ideal and or few spoons of cabbage juice.
Things that help to stop recurring attacks if your lacking these it dosn't help only aids more attacks to your reflux.
taking these regular helps vitamin D, Folate, Folic Acid, Vitamin b9 and other B vitamins.


I do not have a remedy, but i would like to just say thanks to everyone for all the good one's. The ones that worked the best for me were the pickle juice and the almonds.


Wow that is crazy. I woke up in the middle of the night with SEVERE acid reflux and no tums. I came on this website and I ate a pb&j sand which and two mini pickles and all better. Thanks everyone.

Apple Cider vinegar

I read in a natural health book to try a couple of tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, if it makes youmsymptoms worse the you have too m uch acid, if it releives your symptoms then you don't have enough acid. I have suffered with what I thought was eith heartburn or food allergies my entire life. I tried this and it releived my symptoms, it seems I have been suffering with low acid. I no longer have issues and suffer, if I feel symptoms comming on I take 1 TBL spoon in a glass of water or juice and it stops immediately! Good luck!


Eat your evening meal no later than 6:00 p.m.....30 minutes after your an works...never wake up with the reflux again....I can even eat Mexican food again...
