I noticed my daughter had weird yellow scales on the top of her scalp. It looked like dried orange juice. How I got rid of the condition in just one day was by massaging tea tree oil in her scalp (which she LOVED) and then washed with her baby shampoo. It worked so well, I used the tea tree oil on my own scalp and it's cured my dandruff. Plus, it smells so wonderful.
My 3 month old had cradle cap and i took a soft tooth brush and her normal shampoo and rubbed it till all the scales were gone. it was a little red but did not bother her and then i out lotion on it and it hasnt came back
I found that winter babies are more prone to cradle cap. The damp darkness underneath hats contribute to this condition. I gave my babies 'sunbaths', placing their bodies in direct sunlight, massaging the entire body with calendula oil every day, especially the scalp. This should continue for at least 15- 20 minutes every day, after using soft brush to remove excess 'wax' on the scalp. A sunny room is also ok, if its too windy or cold outside.
Our daughter had terrible thick scaly cradle cap. We tried EVERYTHING until a Mum of 9 kids told me to mix half Head and Shoulders Sensitive with half baby shampoo (about a AU50 cent piece size - gone in 8 days! We washed her head every night during her bath - we were so happy and relieved that this worked.
My baby's cradle cap disappeared a few days after we started massaging extra virgin coconut oil to her scalp. We did this an hour before bath. It is so good for the skin also.
For Cradle Cap:
Apply Selsun Blue (dandruff shampoo) to babies scalp twice a week for 2 weeks....
My son had cradle cap when he was born and the doctor actually gave me a perscription for this, it was an off brand of selsun blue so an off brand one is fine too..just dont get it in their eyes...
OLIVE OIL WITH A COUPLE OF DROPS OF REAL LAVENDER DROPS AND APPLY SOFT BRUSH AFTERWARDS.
Take butter to the baby's head. Cake it on and brush it out with a comb. Then wash the baby's hair to get all of the butter out. Works wonders!
Apply a small amount of baby oil to baby's head and brush his or her hair with a baby hair brush. Repeat daily until gone.
Apply vitamin E or cod liver oil to the scalp and brush softly.
