I'm sure the tree oil and turmeric remedy would have work if I had gotten the chance to try it. I found this site when I was in horrible pain from a golf ball size boil right on my butt hole so much pain that I couldn't even drive to the store to get the listed supplies. I ordered everything I needed on amazon prime now but it wouldn't get here til 10pm-12am. In the meantime I used neosporin every hour on the hour and finally the supplies arrived i made the paste and jumped in the tub for step 1 the soak. I gave it 2 gentle squeezes and it burst. I could feel the pain draining out along with the puss. I only used the for 1 day and it worked great. So I would suggest trying it.
Quick question. After 2nd day of applying the paste formula, I get a burning feeling when paste is applied and continues for a few hours. Anyone else experience a burning sensation?
So very happy I found this. I too found a small pea l size bump, being who I am I couldn't leave it alone. It became an abcess within a cpl days. Probably the size of a Brazil nut more long than circular. Found this site tried the tea tree oil, turmeric, baking soda, coconut oil combo. Made a paste and applied it to a piece of gauze and layer it on the abcess. While I can say it burned badly could only leave it on for a cpl hours while trying to sleep. I suspect it was the tree oil causing it to burn. The area before hand was almost raw looking. And the bottle of tree oil did say not to apply it to open wounds. Not sure. But anyway a bath before doing this did soften it a bit. I awoke this morning to it draining. Another bath and I applied another piece of gauze, we'll that was the wrong thing to do. It stuck to it. Ouch!! On getting it off. It does feel much better. I'm curious though how long it will take to completely heal. And should I go ahead and see a dr? I'm thinking since it's already drawing not much a dr can do. I also had a prescription for antibiotics that I started myself on. Thoughts?
I am so grateful I found this sight!!!! I developed an abscess out of the blue. I went to the doctor, who have me antibiotics and told me it would go away. It was larger than s golf ball and so painful I could hardly move. I followed all the advice re baths.... In fact I had about six in a day (desperate for it to work). Tea tree, turmeric and coconut oil. I also used a little tcp inbetween to keep it really clean. Anyway, it worked!!!! I have a tiny lump there now but am continuing with the turmeric. I use make up remover pads to apply and leave the pad... With a sanitary towel you needn't get dirty. Good luck to anyone with this. I was about to call out of hours for an a&e appointment but it wasn't necessary.
With all due respect to all the gushing comments here about home remedies. My experience has been different. I hope this is published as it should be. Here it is. I am in my early 40s. Had a an access develop quickly over 2 days and nights. Tried the warm sitz baths and the turmeric+baking soda+tea tree+coconut oil remedy - several times over the two days. No relief. Things got really sore and painful and on day 3 I decided to go to the emergency services. The admitted me. Administered general anaesthesia. lanced it. and I was conscious in 30 minutes. Much relieved. I don't discount the efficacy of homer remedies but when the pain in the butt starts to scream, its time to find the doctor! Good luck everyone
The first time I suffered perianal abscesses was in my early 40s and only a month after having surgery to remove my hemorrhoids! I went to the emergency room to diagnose and treat these extremely painful anal boils, something much more painful than the hemorrhoids! To treat them, I went to the emergency room and the surgeon lanced them without anesthesia and wow did that HURT!
After a pretty painful month dealing with both issues, I haven't had anal 'issues' till just a few weeks ago.
Suddenly I started feeling the 'boils' develop just under my sphincter. Even after 20+ years, I knew exactly what would follow ... something I did not want to deal with again by going to the emergency room for surgical lancing of the abscesses.
Ergo, I searched the Web for a homeopathic solution, including this website. So I thought it only appropriate to share the resulting methods used to deal with very painful experience.
To say the least it was VERY effective, providing drainage and relief after only one treatment before going to bed. I didn't even require a sitz bath before :-) So without further ado, here's the treatment method that's getting me GREAT results.
1st, and most important, make your poultice.
* 2 tsp turmeric
* 2 tsp baking soda
* 2 tsp coconut oil
* 1/4 tsp or 15 drops of tea tree oil
1. Thoroughly mix all ingredients in a small bowl, preferably glass, to a smooth paste consistency.
Next, start treating the abscesses.
1. Take warm shallow bath or sitz bath with epsom salt for 20-30 minutes. Re-filling with warm water as necessary.
2. When done with bath, pat and dry the area with a towel or cotton cloth. Never allow infected area to stay wet.
3. With a q-tip or other type of swab, apply poultice directly on abscess, spreading it over the entire area.
4. Cover or stuff gauze into area so it won't easy fall out.
5. Use powder or cotton in your inner wear to keep area dry.
Ideally, do this three times a day with the last before going to bed. If in the morning, the abscess hasn't begun to drain, repeat daily till it does.
Note: In my case I started before going to bed, not even taking a bath and the next morning the abscesses had already begun to drain :-) However, I did have to change my bed sheets ;-)
To help promote proper healing I'm finding what you do after the abscess begins to drain is very important.
After care treatment:
* After drainage begins, as necessary, gently wipe affected area with soft cotton cloth soaked in hot water and rubbed with hypoallergenic soap. The last thing you want now is a cleansing liquid or bar soap that causes irritation to your skin!
* Hot compresses can also help the healing process by enhancing blood circulation and diluting the infective toxins.
* As with the treatment, never allow infected area to stay wet.
* Daily nutrients and drinking lots of water and fluids can also help dilute the toxins that still remain while mitigating recurrences down the road. A daily multi-vitamin is a good place to start.
Here two PDFs on after care, regardless of whether you decide on surgery or home remedy:
Ongoing Preventative Management
* Take plenty of water and fruit juices to avoid constipation
* Follow hygienic measures in your ongoing cleansing and caring for the area.
* Get in the habit of passing stool twice a day to avoid strain to rectum and anus
* Don’t strain while defecating. It is better to have semisolid stool for easy defecation
* Sitz bath – After passing stool, take a warm sitz bath with salted water for 10 minutes. In a pinch you can use a hot rinsed soft cotton cloth rubbed with hypoallergenic soap to keep the area hygienically clean.
* • Avoid nylon underwear and use cotton ones
* If you do get another attack treat abscess immediately. Don't wait!!
I hoped the above helps those in need of relief and thanks to everyone here who've shared their challenges and solutions :-)
I've had this once before and only cure was to take antibiotics. However, I was not able to go to my doctor since i was overseas, i decided to try one of the remedies here until I went back.
I was in so much pain (pain when you go to the restroom, cough, move get in out of chair etc) so I tried the Tea Tree Oil and Turmeric remedy. I put in on and felt a soothing relief. about 6 hours later, i was able to move cough with pain. next morning after putting more of the remedy every 6-8 hours. I was just about in no PAIN!! I couldn't believe it. Thank you for all your help who ever discovered this!!
Tip: the solution will get your hands stained so please wear gloves when washing! Otherwise you will have orange fingers. =)
i have had anal abscesses for over 30 years had 4 operations to drain and repair even had stent but nothing worked last year when one healed i was getting one straight away whilst in the hospital waiting area i was talking to a woman and a friend of hers was also suffering with the same abscesses she said to take yeast tablets 6 per day as a cure i have been on these tablets for 6 months now and i have not had a abscess since i am over the moon hope this helps others
I was at my wits end until I came across this thread! I spent so much $ on prep H and other crap when my savior was 2 ingredients that I had in my kitchen! I made a past of turmeric and tea tree oil and put it on. The relief was almost immediate. I kept it on for a few hours when it began to sting a little. I was wearing an overnight pad in a effort to avoid a mess. I noticed a few red spot but chalked it up to the turmeric. I got in an epson salt bath for less then 10 mins ( i have serious add when it comes to baths) While waiting for the water to drain i ran hot water down over the inflamed area. When i got our i slathered even more of the turmeric paste on ..... but this time IT BURNED!!! I toughed it out and the pain eventually subsided. A few hours later I felt very wet back there. Upon investigation I realized cyst was draining it self! It smells to the high heavens but the relief is intoxicating!!! Still not 100% yet but Im giddy with relief!!!
I don't know what I have. All I know is that last year I got what appeared to be a Bartholin cyst then after that my rectum started swelling over a period of months (thought it was hemi's).. anyway recently I decided to try some diaper rash cream that has 40% zinc oxide and low and behold, after a year with this it seems to be going down. I haven't gone to the Dr (no insurance and embarrassed anyway). I could be hemorrhoids or it could be an abcess. Either way the zinc oxide seems to be working. I'm going to add some hydrocortisone cream to the remedy as well.
