RESTLESS LEG NATURAL TREATMENT
I have RLS since adolescence and now at 59 I think I finally found something that helps me since I am resistant to meds. The doctor told me to take vitamin D (4000 mg) + 600 mg of calcium and 300mg of magnesium. This somewhat helps. But I still get them. So in desperation I looked online for a list of natural antispasmodic herbs and spice and I came up with this simple home made herbal tea mix that works almost instantly each time for me. I'm so happy I decided to share this online. The ingredients are cheap and simple. Take 5 minutes to make.
You will need:
Fresh ginger peeled and grated
Honey ( raw or organic if possible)
While the water is boiling
Add to a cup:
A full teaspoon of ginger
A half of teaspoon of cinnamon
Half a teaspoon of fennel seeds
Half a teaspoon of honey
Cover with the hot water let brew for 5 minutes mixing it on and off. You can start sipping slowly as the mixture takes all its flavor for instant relief in my case. You might be surprised as I was with the light stingy taste of the fresh raw ginger and the taste of black licorice of the fennel but I got used to them and now like it now.
I know its an inconvenience to do this when the RLS wakes you at 2 am when you have to get up for work at 6 am, so I make a big batch ahead of time and freeze it in an ice cube tray. I then brake the cubes in a bag and when it hits ( usually in the evening or at night) I simply take a couple of cubes out, boil water for a quick fix and fall back asleep with 15 to 30 minutes when this usually could keep me awake for hours in pain. I also noted the quality of my sleep has improved as a bonus!
I hope this helps another sufferer especially the med resistant like me.
It worth the try, you have nothing to loose!
Good luck and tell me if it helped you.
RESTLESS LEG NATURAL TREATMENT
Drink 2 8 oz glasses of Crystal Light. The Aspartine in it has side effects of drowsiness and leg numbness and offsets the restless leg syndrome within minutes. I discovered this by accident.
I've suffred with restless leg and cramps for years. I found that drinking 3 or 4 oz. of tonic water stops it. It has quinnine in it. A doctor told me to try and I swear it works. Trid perscriptions but to no avail.
I've had RLS all over my body for as long as I can remember. At first, I could take a couple of aspirin, then walk the floor. It helped for awhile. No meds that I take help at all. Has anyone heard of drinking club soda? I personally don't like it, but I'm thinking it's worth a shot. Sometimes massaging the affected area helps.
It appears that RLS is related to or affected by body acidity. We take 4-5 roll-aids and it usually takes care of it. Sometimes have to repeat. Also it is helpful to get up and walk around the house some.
A couple puffs of marijuana, the indica strain. I live in San Diego and have my 'medical card'. I use to take clonopin as part of my treatment for social anxiety disorder. After weaning myself off of it I gradually developed RLS. I noted that after smoking the occasional marijuana, I would get to sleep just fine. I now cannot fall asleep at night due to the absolute agony of RLS unless I smoke a little weed. I then learned that it is the indica strain that works best, and the sativa strain only sometimes! So there you have it. And no, smoking a little weed will not make you a heroin addict.
I have had RLS a long time. Am taking meds but Carpidopa/Levo works. Also tranzadone for sleep.
I have had RLS for about 10 years. I am currently taking Requip and for two years worked like a charm. Not I am on here looking for home remedies. I am desperate for a nights sleep. I have read from using a bar of soap to rubbing Vick's on my legs. I am so confused where to start and what to try first.
I bought everything folks suggested (except the meds). The compression socks and heated slippers (the kind you put in the microwave) worked. I have been sleeping 6 hours each night which is much better than the 2 hours I was getting. THANK YOU!!!!!
I started taking NEUROZAN and the problem has completely stopped. It's a brain supplement and the experts think it may be a neurological problem so perhaps they are right! As long as I take it I am without that awful crawly sensation.
