I've been dealing with major tooth pain for 2 days. I was reading on here about the black tea bags unfortunately we don't have any. So i brushed vigorously over the infected area swished warm salt water then heated a pepermint tea bag and put lb the tooth for about 10 Minn. Doesn't take it away completely but it definitely eases it.
This website has been great. I had a filling and it came out about 5 months ago, leaving behind a hole with a cavity. Since I felt no pain, I did nothing about it. But for the entire month of December, I suffered extreme pain. The pain was excruciating, like a shooting throbbing pain that I had never felt before. Initially, I used orajel, swished baking soda (some pain relief though shortlived) and otc meds like Motrin, Advil, and Aleve. After figuring that those meds were no longer working, I started using Bayer. Be very careful-I developed severe ear ringing from using too much aspirin Bayer and started to feel sick-I think I almost overdosed because I took too many pills. So, this is what I did: I started using the Red Cross Eugenol that is found at CVS or any other drug store. This burned my mouth (I actually have a sore on the side of my lip) and I drooled and spit for about 10 minutes, but the pain did ease a little. Unfortunately, the pain kicked back in after a few hours. Upon futher research I read that pain means some type of infection. So I ordered Amoxicillan from a pet store online (my dentist was closed over the holidays). On Saturday night I started taking 500mg every 8 hours but the pain was still bad by Sunday and I changed it to 500mg every 6 hours (and used the Red Cross Eugenol 2 times that day). And by Monday afternoon, the pain had subsided by 90%! I was so in shock and disbelief that I used the Eugenol again as a precaution. Needless to say, today is Friday, I have not felt that horrible pain that brings me to tears and to my knees. Fortunately I will be getting a root canal on Sunday, but this is my testimony that if you have regular problems with your teeth, order Fish Mox from an online pet store and grab some Red Cross Eugenol and keep them in your medicine cabinet!
Ive had a toothache over this new years holiday. Think i broke an old cap on my back right molar. Cant get in to see the dentist til next week.
I took a Yogi Refreshing mint Black tea bag dipped in in just enough hot water to get the tea wet. then i dipped the we tea bag in some BC powder. I then placed it on the hurt too and kept it in my mouth for about an 30 to min to an hr i only took it out bc i needed to talk to a client at work n didnt want to slobber. Try keeping in in for as long as possible.
As for toothaches, I've always just used BC powder (aspirin) put it directly on the tooth and on the gum and it kills the pain instantly. This powder form aspirin works, and best of all is very cheap, and it's over the counter too.
My 9 year old had a tooth ache tonight and I came across this site looking for a quick fix, since it was at night. Tried the tea bag, Oragel, and mouth wash with little success. Gave him 2 children's Advil and some cold medicine before I left for the grocery store to look for cloves and Sensodyne tooth paste. By the time I got back (30 min.) he was 75% better. The Sensodyne worked well enough he went to bed happy. I think a slight cold has aggravated a cavity. Went to the dentist 6 weeks ago and they said since it was a baby tooth, they wouldn't do much unless it was bothering him. If it flares up again, we;ll be headed back, I guess. I'd try a good decongestant if other things aren't working for you. Good luck!
Short and simple: 800 mg of liquid Children's ibuprofen, 500 mg aceteminophen, and a nice coating of anbesol or oragel. Maximum strength.
Pain = gone.
GET SOME 'LIQUID' TYLENOL! ITS THE BEST FOR TOOTH PAIN. MY PROBLEM IS DEEP UNDER MY CROWN EVEN AFTER IVE HAD A ROOT CANAL? IT SHOULDN'T HURT BUT IT DOES? I TOOK THE LIQUID TYLENOL ON A COTTON SWAB AND RUBBED IT ALL OVER THE TOOTH AND GUMS. ALSO PUT SOME ON DENTAL FLOSS AND APPLIED IT BETWEEN THE TEETH. GOD BLESS THIS STUFF, AND GOOD LUCK TO ALL YOU DEAR SUFFERERS!
I was on a work trip where I don't know a dentist. sudenly, at 8pm teetha che started and I was about to cry, alone with no one to help. I have tried hot water (not helping much. Signal toothpast (robe it on the gum) is soothing but you may need to worm it a bit as cold things didn't work for me. I've used also 500mg panadol but its effect is very slow at the beggining (and if you used to it it will not work in toothache situation). early morning I will call my host and ask them if they know a dentist. If I could pull-out this tooth now I wouldn't wait to the morning but what can I do (now it is 03:30am and I have to wait another more than 4 another hours) GOD helps me.
This site has been soo helpful! I have no idea how to treat a toothache but because of reading the comments on this site, I feel really prepared with home remedies. My boyfriend has been complaining of terrible toothache pain around his back teeth for months and has had many sleepless nights. Today his cheek began to look swollen. I went online and came across this site. From all the comments, I decided to go with Excedrine for the pain and Advil PM to go to sleep. I had him take 2 pills of each, brush the area with toothpaste, rinse with antiseptic mouth wash, and apply orajel. He also placed an ice pack on his cheek as he lay in bed. It's been 2 hours and he is sleeping like a baby. He woke up for a moment just to tell me he feels much better. Thanks to this site someone is sleeping well tonight!
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to go to the dentist in over 7 years. The whole left side of my mouth is jacked up, cracked teeth, chunks missing, etc. The best solution I've found is to start using tooth paste and mouth wash that replaces tooth enamel. Truthfully, I used to have some of the worst tooth aches 4 to 5 times a week, it was killer. I started using toothpastes with enamel restoring and mouth wash with enamel restoring and my teeth feel great. Occasionally they hurt, but nowhere near as bad as they used to, and not nearly as often. Best results are from the dentist though!
