Omg I have no tolerance for pain, I wanted to cry my tooth hurt so bad, & it just came on suddenly, I took 2 aleve, 1 hour later the pain was worse, it was late so I couldn't buy any oragel, so after reading the other post I was going to try the vanilla extract, I rinsed my mouth a few times with really warm water, I flossed the area around my aching tooth, rinsed again, and decided to brush my teeth and I started with my other teeth first and worked my way to the tooth that ached and brushed It for a minute getting harder with the brushing it hurt but then while brushing the pain went away, I only put water to my lips and spit out and no pain! Definetly calling a dentist tomorrow but at least the pain has stopped!

I have been suffering with a tooth ache in my back upper left molar. I went to the dentist and he took X-ray and told me that my tooth was fine! I went to see my doctor because I was having pain in my ear also. He told me I had an ear infection and prescribed me an antibiotic. The pain in my tooth is unbearable so I found this site and tried some of the remedies. I rubbed sensodyne toothpaste on my tooth and I can finally say the pain is almost gone! Still going to see my dentist though! But I am finally getting some relief and sleep!

I've had a slight bad pain about 1 week now and on the 15th a day before my husband to be's birthdy is when the pain started getting really bad I had to go in the hospital at 11pm untill 3am cause the pain was so bad I couldn't take it anymore

They gave me Navamoxin for Infection and Tynol 3 for pain as a pyscripiton and gave me some at the Hospital I came home and I still couldn't sleep at all

I had to wait untill the Pharmacy opened and I got the Cepacol Honey Lemon Cough Drops like one person suggested

Guess what? THEY WORKED FOR ONE NIGHT

I had to go back the next day to the hospital I had taken 3 Naxamoxin (as it's once 3 times a day) 2 Tynol 3 (says one every 6 hours) and 1 Cepacol and the pain was extreme I was crying wanting to pull out my tooth right then

They told me I could be taking 2 Tynol 3's every 6 Hours and gave me Naproxen as well for the pain

So my suggestion is if your still having pain really bad pain take 2 Tynol 3's you will see a diffrence and if not go to Walk in or closest emergancy where you would only have to wait 5hrs at the most and get them to give you Naproxen

A hot teabag. Someone suggested it and I was so desperate that I tried it. I just heated up some water and grabbed a coupl eof tea bags, debating on whether I should use plain black tea or chai. I went with a chai blend because someone had suggested cayenne pepper with garlic and all of that and I figured something spicy was what did it. I'm not sure if that is the case, but its working until I can have my next round of Ibuprofen/Tylenol, which seems to work the best since I can function without a teabag in my mouth.

I have had problems with my teeth for a long time but I've an appointment at my dentist on 31st August. Now, I use cold water when it is severe. I literally cry with pain until I use cold water. I used to use it for hours upon hours just to get some relief. If you yourself use cold water for relief, then use cold water for about 45 minutes-90 minutes then stop completely. It will hurt like mad for anything between 10 minutes to 30 minutes and you WILL be in agoney but after that, the toothache disappears. You may have a little niggle but nothing major. This works but you need to bear with it. I was crying and literally pacing for 25 minutes in agony but then it disappears. I was skeptical too but whatever you do, DON'T go back on the water, just wait it out and I promise you, you will feel better and pain free. Please let me know how it goes. Marie x

This is what worked for me, ultimately you will need to see a dentist but until you can get in.
1. Take 800 mg of Ibuprophen.
2.Brush your teeth with sensodyne(any containing Potassium Nitrate at 5% or above).
3.If pain appears between teeth or below or at gumline, snap a round toothpick in half making a sharper piece to get in-between teeth and under gumline (you may have to break several to get one good piece as a blunt piece will not work. Put the sensodyne toothpaste on the piece of toothpick and get that sensodyne up below the gum or in-between the teeth. Anywhere you feel the pain is, coat it with the sensodyne.
I have used viscous lidocaine, hurricane, orajel and they don't help as much as that toothpaste with the potassium nitrate.
I would use a good strong mouthwash between treatments as well.
Contact your public health department for 'sliding scale' dentists. They will work with low to no income people depending on how much money you make. Typically much more compassionate then the regular dentists around.

I had found the old site first and followed what seemed to help others. This is what finally worked for me after being in pain all night and unable to sleep.
I took 4, 200 mg. of Ibuprofen, which I know is a prescription dosage. I brushed my teeth thoroughly, and put maximum strength Orajel on some dental floss. I then flossed around the tooth - in my case the problem was with my second to last molar on the bottom left. I then took a cotton swab and dipped it into hydrogen peroxide and swabbed it all around the tooth, full strength. After a couple of minutes, I rinsed with mouthwash. I think mine is Crest Complete. I then heated a Green Tea bag in a small amount of water for about 45 seconds. I squeezed out the excess water and used it as a poultice between my tooth and gum. I kept it there for a few minutes, until it got cold. I then took a swab and dipped it in Orajel and swabbed that around the tooth. After I did everything, I finally got relief.
I went to Walmart and bought some Colgate Sensitive Pro Relief toothpaste so that I could brush and not have it be so sensitive, but it is supposed to repair enamel. I haven't used it before, but thought it was worth a try.
I also bought 200 mg. Ibuprofen, and their Equate Nighttime Sleep Aid tablets, because I have been up all night. I got more Orajel, because I used up what I had. So for the 4 items I bought, I spent just under $20. I am finally free of pain, and since I am dentist phobic, hopefully this will keep working. Good luck to YOU if you are suffering!! There is nothing worse than a toothache.
