101 Home Remedies for Toothache Pain

If you need a quick relief before getting the sensodyne tooth paste and Red Cross tooth ache medicine method which by the way works a dream. Then get a spirit of some sort (gin, vodka and rum worked the best for me) and just take a small mouth and start swirling it around the effected area for 5-10 min before spitting it out. It should keep it mostly pain free for around 20-40min!

Back to Sleep

Tea Tree Oil! I was up in the middle of the night looking online for something to provide relief for a toothache preventing sleep. Unfortunately I didn't have many of the ingredients I saw people commonly recommending. I remembered that I had recently bought tea tree oil and looked up if others had tried that for toothache pain and found some that had. I tried it and got relief within 5 minutes and was able to go to sleep!

Here's my remedy: take Tea Tree oil (make sure it is 100% tea tree oil) and dip a q-tip into it. Rub the q-tip along the gum of the problem tooth and on top of the tooth itself.

IMPORTANT: Tea Tree oil is not meant to be ingested (swallowed) so take care to not swallow it even though the amount on a q-tip will be very small. Also, it is going to taste terrible but that is a small price to pay if it take away the pain.

During the next few minutes, I spit out the saliva gathering in my mouth so as not to ingest it. Then I rinsed my mouth out with luke warm water and went to bed. The pain continued to decrease over the next couple minutes and I was able to go to sleep for the rest of the night! I was surprised how well and how quickly it worked and wanted to share.

I have tried every single remedy you all posted here. I feel like you are all my friends! But, nothing worked for me. Not the salt water, not the clove, not the teabag, not the hydrogen peroxide...nothing. In panic mode, I decided to be daring. I grabbed the jar of Icy/Hot in my medicine cabinet. I rubbed a little on the side of my face (outside...not inside) and the pain I had been experiencing for hours had finally disappeared in a matter of minutes. It didn't take much Icy/Hot. Just a dab on the cheek where the pain was. I then took a Tylenol PM, and I slept like I had never slept before for a complete six hours without pain. This was a miracle cure for me. It worked so much better than Orajel (which only works for about 37 seconds and tastes nasty) and clove (which burned!). I hope this works for you as well. Good luck. I know toothache pain is hell.

Had a horrible toothache for 5 days and no dental insurance. Have been on a regimen for 3 days and now have no pain whatsoever. After each meal rinse mouth thoroughly with peroxide. Floss and brush teeth. Using a q-tip apply tea tree oil on and around the painful tooth. Don't swallow. Place hot washcloth on jaw for a few minutes. Boost immune system by taking garlic capsules and vitamin C. I've had amazing results.
