I've. Had 4 now severe tooth.ache, where I was hospitalized for last week. The pain was so severe in shooting down my neck into my chest I thought I was having a heart attack..i just turned 30 but apparently the tooth they chipped from having my open heart surgery broke more and the nerve iS exposed. To.get to the point. The only thing that had work was large does of vicoden til that's no longer working, so I tried few from here. SALT WATER RINCE, VODKA SWISHED IN YOUR MOUTH, I SPIT IT OUT, SINCE I DON'T DRINK, BUT OMG THIS WORKED WONDERS THEN FOLLOWED IT WITH SOME VICKS RUB ON THE OUTSIDE OF MY JAW WHERE THE PAIN WAS AT AND IT'S SOOTHING. IT'S NOT 100% GONE..BUT BARELY THERE NOW DOWN TO A 2 AND I WAS AT A 10 IF THAT'S AS HIGH AS U CAN GO ON PAIN SCALE BUT I DON'T FEEL LIKE I WANT TO RAM MY HEAD INTO AN ONCOMING SEMI TO GET KNOCKED OUT FROM THE PAIN LOL.. ALSO.DOC GAVE ME KEFLEX AN ANTIBIOTICS, SUGGEGST GETTING ONE. I ALSO HAVE NO INSURANCE NO ONE WILL INSURE ME DUE TO MY HEART CONTITION. SO THE $3000 FOR THE ROOT CANAL IS OUT OF THE QUESTION..GOOD LUCK WITH EVERYRHING. I LOVED ALL YOUR REMEBIES SO FAR SOME R WORKING THANK U..
I find that using 2 crushed co-codamol in warm milk works perfectly well add chocolate powder for a better taste. Its working better than anything ive tryed. An as for people trying hot water bottle's or owt like that on there bad teeth i was told its the worst thing to do because it make's things worse after a short time it will bring swelling up rather than keep swelling down makin the pain worse
I had this horrible tooth pain that woke up at like 12am. It was so bad I was crying because it felt like someone was stabbing me on my right side of my jaw and the pain Was radiating to my ear and felt like someone was kicking me in my temple. I took ibuprofen and it did nothing finally the pain was so bad I went to the er where they gave me more ibuprofen and told me to cone back in the morning. I was in so much pain that I was hysterical! I saw the dentist n they said I had a very bad infection that had to be treated in order to take out my wisdom tooth that ha broken in half. In the end nothing not even meds from the doctor worked. My mother gave me a hot green tea bag and told me to hold it against my gums where the tooth hurt. At first it hurt so much!! But I delt with the pain and bit down on the teabag like my mom told me and after like 10 mins the pain had calmed down soooo much! I was able to finally fall asleep. Oh ane after u do the teabag thing take an exedrine migraine. Trust me it stopped the radiating pain. Good luck!
Desperation this morning:
removed last bit of temporary filling stuff
aspirin and oragel packet
Looking on this website
salt water rinse
tea bag - felt the tiniest bit better for a few minutes
aspirin and oragel paste directly applied
At which point I was still dying.
orange extract on cotton ball - this is 80% alcohol. Keep tongue away. I did this three times in succession which was probably not necessary if you use enough on a big enough cotton ball. I felt marginally better, but hopeful.
I did cover it back up with the temporary filling stuff you get over the counter.
10 minutes later - MUCH better.
30 minutes later - as good as new.
I know this sounds strange but after loosing a filling while on vacation I tried this and it worked.
1. Swish with warm water
2. Dab with rubbing alchole
3. Put a few drops super glue gel
4. Put small square toilet paper over glue
ok so after being up almost all night and reading through all the remedies i have opted for using salt water icy hot and benedryl and a wet towel heated in the microwave for 5 mins and wrapped in another towel so it doesnt burn your skin stays hotter longer this way my mouth has stopped throbbing and the benedryl is slowing putting me to sleep as i type this if all goes well i will finally sleep will be posting again in the morning to state if the remedy worked or not thanks to everyone's ideas and good luck to everyone else it totally sucks not to have health insurance...
rub the icy hot on the side of face where the pain is then swoosh the warm salt water in your mouth a couple times then take benedryl i took two and then heat up your wet towel in the microwave for 5 mins and wrap with another dry towel to keep heat in and most definitley sleep sitting up i am in a recliner with feet up and head up and hot towel on my face hope this works
After days of pain and doing almost everything here I tried VODKA. 13 hours later still no pain. I slept like a baby after I did it.. Simply take about a cap full and swish it around the infected tooth. now this will burn and hurt but I left it in for about a min or so and like i said 13 hours later no pain...
After having many sleepless nights & days off of work & stumbling across this site at 3.20am I read through pages & pages of things but I'm not the sort of person to keep things like whole cloves, garlic powder, vanilla extract etc in the house, or alcohol as I don't drink so I decided after taking as many pain killers as I can & nothing working I tried Bonjela (a teething gel, but they also do one for adults which I am using) just put a small amount on a clean finger & rub around affected tooth & gum. Also a cup of warm water with lots of salt & lots of vinegar & swish round your mouth for as long as you can, vinegar on its own is really good too....just don't swallow it as it isn't very nice! This really really works for me & gives me relief for hours on end.
Like many of you hear, I can't afford dentist fees & this pain comes usually twice a year, my tooth has been breaking off over the years & is basically nothing now but the nerve is exposed which is no fun!
Each & every home remedy on here will work for for one person but not the next 5 so its always good to give everything a go before going to the dreaded dentist!
Good luck all of you! :)
take just a small cheekfull of liqour, hold it on effected area until you feel yur gums tingle. Swish it then spit. ;) Im happy as a clam
i've been up for the past 2 nights with an excsruciating toothache. after trying the tea bag method and cloves i found that it worked but for a short amount of time. i used red cross tooth drops and it helped but made my mouth raw. i used an ice pack it helped some as well. i took tylenol pm to try to sleep. it did nothing for the pain or to help me sleep. i read where using sensodyne toothpaste would alleviate the pain. at this point i would try anything. i was rocking back and forth in agony. i used the sensodyne and the pain instanly went away. thank you so very much to the person who submitted the remedy of sensodyne toothpaste. it honestly worked better than anything else i tried. the pain has not returned yet. thanks again for the advice. seriously use sensodyne toothpaste 1st brush your teeth with it . then put a dab directly on the tooth . leave it for 10 min or so then rinse. i slept like a baby all night.
