Bring to a boil, 1 and a 1/2 inch piece of ginger(grated and pounded) and 2 tsp of fenugreek/methi seeds in 2.5 cups of water. Let this simmer for 5 minutes, covered. This makes 2 servings. Then cool this slightly and pour through a sieve into a cup. Drink this 2-3 times as needed. You could add a tsp of sugar. This did wonders for my daughter's cramps. I also, soaked raw fenugreek/methi seeds in water for about 6 hours and got her to drink this water.
For period cramps and menstural pain.
Get a favorite lotion, put 4 tablespoons into a different container. Boil water and pour into a large water bottle, wrap a towel or cloth around it so that it doesn't burn you then place it in the area where it hurts. If its too hot wait for the water to cool down but the water SHOULD be hot. WARNING: blood flow will increase with the heat of the water so wear overnight pads when doing this to avoid stains.
I have extremely bad cramps every single month and it usually lasts from the day before I start my period and lasts for the next 3 days.
One thing which is great is a heating pad. Or anything that attains to heat, hot bath, etc.
Also once you feel the cramps start to come, exercise. I know -- Dreadful. But it does work.
Exercising gets your blood flowing and alleviates your blood from just flowing down there. Running or jogging is the best thing you can do. You could also try just running in place for atleast 20 minutes. If you don't want to do that, do sit-ups. It's kind of annoying as you do it and might hurt a little but it's a must.
I know this is a home rememdy website and thats why I didn't mention any medications however, I take alieve and that always helps me. 1 pill for 12 hours.
Black pepper corns. Swallow about 10 black pepper corns like you would a pill. It eases period cramps within 30-40 minutes. This will make your first day flow slightly heavier, but I'd rather deal with that than debilitating pain. It's my Great Grandmother's remedy! It really works
Ever since ive had a period ive had imobilizing pain from cramps. Nothing i tried would help including maximum strength pain killers. The only thing that has ever worked for me is putting a heating pad on my stomach. It works almost instantly. Almost any form of heat works though, like a hot bath. A heating pad is just the most convient.
Water soluble aspirin is great cos i heard it thins the blood. It works faster and better than anything i have ever tried for period pain. By thinning your blood, your prescious organs are given tremendous relief. Your flow might be a bit thinner but thats ok when days of cramps will be a thing of the past!
My period cramps are completely life stopping, so I have a few tricks I've picked up. When my cramps first start I take a Period Cramp medication, usually Midol or Pamprin. Both work well, but I dont take them but once. After I have taken the one dose, I wear lose fitting jeans or sweats, once in your comfy clothes, take a break and lay down flat, on a soft surface of course. While laying down for around a half hour take deep and slow breaths, once ive done that the cramps are usually kept at bay for several hours. I hope this helps someone, I know how horrid the cramps can really be.
