I was dealing with BV for almost 2 years, it was very frustrating and brought my self esteem to the lowest...I have tried so much remedies from vitamin c inserts, garlic both orally & insert, yogurt both orally & insert, hydrogen peroxide soak in tampons & inserted, acidophilus, tea tree oil etc. I got no lasting results maybe just for a week for the most with the hydrogen peroxide. I gave all the remedies a rest & everyday morning I drank a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with half glass of water on a empty stomach, within two weeks my symptoms were gone. Its been two months and no sign of it. I am also a spiritual person so I ask God to heal my body, with the power of God and the apple cider vinegar I am BV free. Eating healthy and regular exercise will also aid in healing faster.
So I've never commented on one of these but I felt the need to share my method of victory. I've had bv for about a year and a half now. I'm 21. My symptoms were only excessive discharge and a horrible smell. No redness or itching. I tried antibiotics, came back in a week. I tried ACV, drinking it and bathing in it. Although it helped, it didn't cure. So I decided to get accuflora and some vitamin C pills. I've been taking them daily for about two weeks. They definitely help! Less discharge less smell but still there. So last night I finally decided to insert a vitamin C pill vaginally. I have 1000mg so I cut one in half and stuck it as far as I could, I used a tampon applicator to push it up even more. Woke up this morning with no discharge no smell. there was a tiny tiny bit of discharge at the end of the day but no smell whatsoever! I just inserted the other half and I'm going to continue for a week. So happy I found my cure (: good luck ladies
I've been dealing with BV for the past 2 months now and can't afford to go see a doctor so I've been stressing BAD.
I tried garlic (insertion and by mouth, capsules and cloves), and I tried coconut oil, neither seemed to work. So. I went out and bought apple cider vinegar. Yesterday I soaked a tampon in the vinegar, swallowed a couple Garlic tablets, cooked myself some healthy food cooked in coconut oil, and had yogurt afterwards.
Woke up this morning and it's pretty much GONE! No smell, no discharge, no more irritation.
I'm going to continue this for a few more days just to make sure but it definitely worked. And it worked FAST! I've been so happy today.
I have been suffering with BV for almost two years now, it is so embarrassing. Also the amount of money I have spent on pantie liners is unbelievable. So I have been doing research to find cures. Right now what I do is soak a tampon in hydrogen peroxide for a few minutes, then I put it in. Leave it in for about 30-45 minutes. When you take it out no smell, and no discharge. This is a temporary fix, but is great and such a life saver!
Lemon water. Lemon water. Lemon water!
It's so fast and very simple.
Only thing is if you don't drink it every day, it will come back.
I just drink some iced lemon water in the morning and it subsides it.
For now this is what's working, but I will eventually look into the other more permanent remedies.
This site has been really cool and has showed me that BV is really not that uncommon and it can be treated. Keep being awesome, ladies. :)
L-Glutamine 1000mg. tablets stopped my bv while I was wrestling with perimenopause. I continued them everyday until the menopause really kicked in. I don't have to take them anymore. I don't recall what magazine I read this in...but Thank God!!!
empty a douche bottle and rinse it out... fill with 1/2 cooled down boiled water and 1/2 hydrogen peroxide, douche 1-2 times a day for 2-4 days... it works... I done it after having bv back to back three times with vaginal gel and oral medications that had been unsuccessful..after first douche-no odor and decreased itching day two-no discharge...after three days I stopped because I was symptom free..been since January 2015..no bv
1 part water to 1 part peroxide. It is a quick fix. The symptoms may even return but it works. I have been doing this for the past 4 years. And just 2 months ago i was about to have intercourse, it was the spur of the moment and all us ladies know that intercourse is a no go with bv. My bf knows of my situation and I told him let's just try and see what happens. And amazingly there was no odor no nothing. I was surprised that I actually started to cry because I have been fighting with this for so long. But it's been 2 months and we are still going strong with no problems. I pray someone reads this and it's a blessing to them. It has worked for me.

Hi All...I've come back to this site several times looking for a natural/home remedy to help in balancing this imbalance called Bacterial Vaginosis (BV). A couple years ago I was prescribed Flagyl and it seemed to work then. However, for a few weeks now I've noticed some of the symptoms of BV return and was looking for an alternative route instead of antibiotics. I've tried a variety of different treatments (i.e. yogurt, garlic, tea tree oil + water) and have found some relief with most of them. For the past three days, I've been using the hydrogen peroxide method (50/50 with water--soak a tampon and leave in for 20-30mins.--3 times a day). No signs of BV for the last two days. I've also been pumping up my immune system with vitamin C ~ 1,000mg 3X a day + vitamin D and a women's multivitamin. These are the things I've been doing to help with the physical symptoms of BV.
On the other hand, I believe that with all dis-ease that enters our lives there is emotional and mental component as well. In researching BV, the word 'imbalance' or 'out of balance' comes up quite frequently in regards to good and bad bacteria in the VaJJ. Therefore, I feel that BV can be viewed as a physical sign of an out of balance in some area of life. After some inward reflecting on my own life, I can see that there are areas where I'm not taking time for myself or using words that are uplifting and positive about my body.
One of my passions has always been health and healing. I believe that self healing is possible though external and internal forces. It has to be a complete change in thinking and a realization that you are not your disease or your heath. We cannot define our worth by what physical aliments we have. Instead we must choose to see ourselves living a vibrant and heathy life even before we are healed (or free from BV).
Acceptance of the challenges we have in our physical bodies is one of the best ways to start the healing process. I love affirmations and try to say them as often as possible, especially when negative, unhealthy or fearful thoughts enter my mind. Here are a few go-to's:
'All is well, everything is working out for my highest good, and from this situation only good will come.'
'My body is heathy and whole and knows how to heal/balance itself.'
'I love an accept myself just the way I am right now.'
My hope is that is inspires you to reach within yourself and beyond yourself to know that you are a powerful woman who is capable of healing and living a life of love to yourself and all those around you.
Life is a balancing act...so find your balance!!!!
