I have been suffering for about a month now and nothing is working I took monistat thinking it was a yeast infection which didn't work so I made an appintment with my gyno. She diagnosed me with BV and gave me metronidazole for a week and it didn't work. I am confused because I barely experience any discharge or smell but just unbearable itching that makes me not able to participate in my daily routine. Has anyone else experienced this with BV? I am barely able to sleep and I have tried taking probiotics for weeks and tree tea oil douches which gave some relief temporarily. Does anyone recommend anything??

I had BV for 2 months and it drove me insane!!
What I did to to help was the hydrogen peroxide and distilled water.
First I did half peroxide and half distilled water and laying in a bath tub with my hips in the air, using a dropper I would pour it on the outside and inside of my vagina. I would hold the mixes In and then let them out after that I inserted a acidophilus pill vaginally. I also put a couple of drops on the capsule so it could deteriorate easier. And I did this for 4-7 days and I feel amazing now! No smell! No nada!!
P.s. I also try to eat Activia on the daily.

After struggling with BV for over a year I came across this site and the first thing I tried was chlorophyll (after a research I have done it seemed like the right thing) I combined it with garlic capsules and it WORKED!! Thanks to you ladies!

I started noticing odor progressing. I've had it before and it went away. This time it stayed and the odor was so bad, I'm sure people around me could smell it. I finally got the courage to go to the doctor, she prescribed me with the usual antibiotic, metro something. I forgot the name. I took every pill and the smell subsided. But soon after, maybe a day or two, I still had the watery discharge and nasty odor. I thought maybe the body just had to rebalance, since the antibiotics killed all the good bacteria. My boyfriend couldn't understand how embarrassing it was for me to open myself to him knowing what was going on down there. I refused to go back to the doctor and fork up more money for stuff that wouldn't work. I finally came across this site and it helped me so much. Knowing I'm not the only one who has struggled with this.
I tried soaking a tampon in Apple cider vinegar and left it in for about an hour. I read nothing but good things about Apple cider vinegar. With just one treatment I'm already noticing a change in my discharge. I barely have any discharge. It still smells like the vinegar, I'm sure in a couple days that will go away. But underneath the vinegar smell, I can smell my normal smell. I feel so relieved. I can't believe after one treatment it worked!!!
To help prevent this from happening again I'm taking rephresh probiotics. Thanks everyone for the input. It helped so much!

I am just wondering if any of you ladies experienced an ectopic pregnancy after taking the vaginal probiotic pills?

Make sure that you are wiping downward! And also sip on about two tablespoons of Apple cider Vinegar every other day(straight from bottle). That stuff works wonders.

I have been suffering with strange symptoms over the past several weeks. After finding out my husband was having an affair in early July, I started noticing the symptoms about 3 weeks later. Increased discharge, almost liquid in consistency- enough to where my panties always seemed damp down there. Then I began noticing a difference in the smell. I went from having to no smell at all, to a slight smell to a very strong what I can only describe as a metallic fish type smell. When the smell first started, I had a bought with itching and the discharge got thicker, I thought I had a yeast infection so my OBGYN called me in some Diflucan. Took that and within days the itching cleared up and the discharge went back to clear and liquid consistency but the smell remained. Thinking that my body was just going through some changes (Background: I am almost 30 and have two children ages 3 and 5. I suffer with severe endometriosis and interstitial cystitis, so having issues down there is not uncommon for me) I ignored the symptoms at first and just began taking more care to clean thoroughly down there.

Now, I am 4 months past my divorce and I am considering the fact that dating and things like that will be in my future. The discharge has remained as well as the odor and I know I am going to have to get this figured out before I attempt anything with another man in the future.

After lots of research over the past few days, I have concluded that I am suffering from BV, a parting gift from my ex-husband. So kind of him.

I began taking cranberry, garlic and green tea OTC vitamins yesterday and last night I soaked a tampon with apple cider vinegar and inserted for about 30 minutes (the burn was quite uncomfortable, I will try to keep it in longer tonight). Today I stopped by my local vitamin store and picked up the following:

FEMDOPHILUS by Jarrow Formulas (1 pill twice a day, I am going to do this for a week or until my symptoms start to decrease)

DIGEST EXTRA (The Vitamin Shoppe brand of digestive aid. My research recommended making sure that whatever kind of digestive enzyme supplement you get, to make sure that cellulase and hemicellulase are on the list) 1 pill BEFORE each meal. It is important to take this before your meal, as it will not 'do its job properly' if taken when food is already present on the stomach.

I will continue with the tampon and apple cider vinegar every other night, until my symptoms clear up.

I will also begin taking supplemental letter vitamins (A, B, C & D). I have found several studies linking them all to BV.

Basically, BV is an imbalance in the flow of good and bad bacteria in your lady parts. Every va-jay-jay is different, so every ladies treatment course will be different. I really don't believe there is one 'cure all' for BV, as what is considered imbalanced in my body may not be in yours.

What this site is great for is bouncing around ideas for us to research and if we decide to try them, then we can sound off with our findings. Which, obviously, we all hope if BV FREE VA-JAY-JAYS!

I will update with my progress over the few days and will note if I make any changes in my treatment.

I've read some good things about tea tree oil too. So I am considering taking a bath and soaking for a while each night with some tea tree oil in my bath. The smell of it is so strong, so I am still in heated debate with myself over it.

At this point, I am so ready to not be self conscious of myself and feel like I need to pack extra panties with me just to make it through a day!

I'm 31 and have recurring bouts of BV since I was about 26. It's horrible. No symptoms for me other than the smell. I'm sick of going to the doctor and waiting for the test to come back positive every few months. I found this forum a week ago and I tried the following: one bath with 2 cups Apple cider vinegar, another bath same day with 1/2 cup baking soda and one vitamin c inserted before bed. The next day it was 90% gone. The following day: no smell. I still picked up up a vaginal health probiotic at the health food store and started taking it. TMI finally had sex with my boyfriend and didn't feel totally GROSS. We have only been dating 5 months and I've pretty much had it off and on since we started dating...no conversations about it...but I'm sure he's happy :/ I cannot even begin to say how thankful I am for finding all of your messages!! THANK YOU!
