I have been dealing with BV, off and on, for over 4 years. Needless to say you all know how frustrating it can be when the doctors prescribe the meds that do not work. Now I am BV free. I used a wash of 2 cap fulls of Apple Cider Vinegar, 3 drops of Tea Tree oil and warm water both day and night. I also made my partner do the same. Then I drank a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar each night followed by a glass of water. NO, it does not taste good but it will put your PH back in balance. I also inserted a garlic clove into my vagina once a day for 5 days. Warning you will taste it on day 2.
All this for for a period of 2 weeks did the trick. Now I eat yogurt 2X a day, still wash with the ACV, Tea tree oil and I am BV free for over a month.
No smell, no itching, and I feel sexy once again. Good Luck

I have been suffering with BV for about 4 years now, and I have finally found what works for me. Warm lemon water, every morning and night. Now if you're like me, you have googled countless websites and have read tons of threads of the success people have had with curing their BV. However, EVERYTHING I tried was temporary. Tea tree oil, ACV, HP, Vit C, yogurt, etc. I felt hopeless, but that has all changed.

With some research on the benefits lemon has on your body I decided to try it out, along with clean eating and working out. The lemon is supposed to balance the PH levels throughout your body. Even if this didn't cure the BV, I liked what drinking lemon water could do for my health overall. So I gave it a try.

After a week of drinking warm lemon water first thing in the morning and before bed, the BV is gone. I haven't felt this clean in YEARS. Ive been checking 'my area' multiple times a day, feeling like it's too good to be true. IT'S NOT! It's amazing how this simple act can be so effective and helpful in my life.

I really thought BV was apart of me forever, but with this new daily routine, I am free and its feels GOOD! I know very well how depressing dealing with BV can be, and this weight that's lifted off of my shoulders has made me feel like a new person. My confidence has had a spike, and I'm ecstatic.

I told myself I would write a post if I ever found something that truly worked for me because I want to be able to help others who understand the pain of dealing with this infection. So please, give it a try. It can't hurt. Take a cup of warm water, squeeze juice from half a lemon and drink first thing in the morning, and at night. I hope this really helps someone out, keep the faith!

I have tried EVERYTHING! Remedies from this blog, prescriptions from my doctor, vaginal probiotics, & nothing worked as well as BORIC ACID. I talked to a naturopath & this was the first thing he recommended. It was inexpensive & I bought it over the counter at the pharmacy. I inserted 1 pill vaginally for 7-10 days.

I would like to thank everyone who has submitted home remedies because this blog has been a life saver. I have suffered from recurring bacterial vaginosis for a few years now and my Dr only prescribes an antibiotic. I have even asked on several occasions what the cause of this issue is because I am a very clean woman. I have never been given a clear answer of how to prevent it from coming back. I had really bad symptoms this past weekend, bad smell, discharge, itching, and a little burning from the irritation. I debated on going to the ER but decided to do a little research because I really wanted to avoid that antibiotic yeast infection. Per this blog, I tried the vitamin c tablet inserted in the vagina and after just the first use my discharge was all but gone and the itching and burning was completely gone. THANK GOD!!!!! I usually consistently have the weird smell, which I always thought it was from me being a bit on the plus size and sweating sometimes. However, after using the vitamin c tablets I have no smell. I definitely plan on completing the 5 days of vitamin c tablet use and then will follow up with a dose of RepHresh to restore the natural flora.

Hi Ladies!

I have suffered from BV on and off since high school (first time I got it was in high school). I remember getting prescribed the metroziondale antibiotic (the huge nasty pill that tastes like sh*t)

Then I went to college... Didn't experience it too much until my junior/senior year. I was prescribed the metroziondale (either the gel or pill) everytime results came back positive for BV. I had UTIs and a couple of yeast infections sprinkled in between --- one time I had a yeast, BV, and a uti all at once ----- not fun.

So rule of thumb! Always. Always pee before and after sex. I get its not the sexiest thing to do is get up immediately after sex but it's better then dealing with the uncomfortable itchiness of BV -- or any vaginal infection

I highly recommended buying UNSCENTED baby wipes. I literally use these periodically throughout the day at work --- after I pee/poop, and of course after sex --- followed by always showering before I go to bed !!! Ladies please buy UNSCENTED soap as well. I use dove UNSCENTED for sensitive skin. Never take soap and wash up there --- it stings! Just gently wash around the area.

I use a diff razor to shave my vagina -- and a different one to shave near my butt (loll).

GAME CHANGER ---> every morning I take 2 folic acids (200 mg each, so 400mg) followed by one acidophilus pill --- I take the Nature Made brand that you can buy at CVS (doesn't really matter) --- and then I repeat this remedy at night.

Make sure you take your birth control at the same time everyday ---- key is to be consistent with both of these remedies !!!!

it has been working for me so far and I have been BV free for almost two months **knock on wood**
When having sex another thing to keep in mind, if your having anal sex -- only have anal sex that night. Same goes for vaginal. Sounds gross but those fluids from those different areas = natural bacteria being in places they shouldn't which causes these infections.

BV is so frustrating, I know. I feel ya ladies and I hope this helps.

I've been suffering from BV for about 6 months now. I've taken the antibiotics and the first time it worked, but then cam back. When i took them the second time, they did nothing but make me crazy nauseous. So a few days ago, i went the health food store. I got garlic capsules, folic acid and acidulous. Within about 3-4 hrs, the gross discharge was gone! No more wasted trips to the doctor for antibiotics that do nothing. I hope this helps someone :-)

ladiess i swear to you this has worked for me. in the past i have tried everything to get rid of bv and it just wasn't working at all. but i have done a lot of searching and i found out that spinach smoothies really work. i grabbed baby spinach that was frozen added some 6-8 slices of bannana's and also some almond milk only a little and some ice. i drunk this for two days and the symptoms started to disappear. also because i wanted to be sure that it was gone the first night i started drinking the smoothie i douched with apple cider vinegar and grabbed a tampon and crushed some vitamin c with rosehips and added plain greek yogurt and put it all over the tampon and inserted it three night in a row. you do not douche the the nights you just need to the first night. also it will help if you to vitamin d3 by mouth.

I have suffered from bv for over a year. I had terrible smelling discharge, itching and burning. I was prescribed antibiotics but they didn't work. I douched with hydrogen peroxide and tea tree oil every other day for a week, and no more discharge, and minimal itching. When I itch I apply some tea tree oil and it stops.

Hi Ladies!! I was recently diagnosed with BV in October 2014. Nothing I tried seemed to help at all. Clindamycin and Flagyl only made things worse and gave me raging yeast infections and all other natural remedies only treated the symptoms and not the problem. What I did was buy myself a bottle of RAW brand vaginal care probiotics and for 2 weeks I inserted one in my vagina in the morning and one at night then after 2 weeks I just inserted one in the morning for about the next 6 weeks. The discharge went away completely and slowly my own normal smell began to return. I drink plenty of filtered water, juice every other day, take 800mg of folic acid daily, and watch my diet. Changing my diet has been one of the keys to helping me beat back my BV. I watch what I eat and try to stick with organic lean meats, don't eat dairy but, once or twice a week, I eat plenty of fruits and veggies, and keep my carb intake to a minimum. I don't douche, insert vitamin C in my vagina, or anything else that might further add to the disruption of my normal flora.Try this before you try anything else as this is what helped me get my life back!!

Ladies, I am a 58-year-old post menopausal woman experiencing BV. I went to my doctor for diagnosis; and, $500 worth of lab test later found out it was a Gardnerella bacterial infections. I went the Flagyl route which did nothing. I was then prescribed a vaginal cream anti-biotic which worked until I had intercourse again with my man. Then the BV was back. My man and I are monogamous, so I don't have any worries about him playing around. This all started after we had been together for about 5 months. I have never had this with any other sex partner, but had it with him when we were seeing each other as youngsters. I was beside myself when my symptoms came back again and dreaded returning to my doctor. The expense and probable results made me doubt I would be satisfied. I did some on-line research and tried the Vitamin C route. One 500 mg tablet inserted inside for 5 days, and the infection was gone! Probably should have quit after 4 days because I had some irritation after 5 days, but I used some VH Vaginal Health prebiotic suppositories to replenish my vagina, and I am totally discharge free. I plan to insert a Vitamin C tablet after intercourse and see if I can prevent the infection from returning. So far, so good!
