I inserted a vitamin c easy to dissolve 500 mg right up into my vagina once I started experiencing thick discharge and a fishy odor. I did it for one night and bam all of my symptoms were fine! Now I did have a lot of discharge for the tablet dissolving for the first night but after that my discharge was normal and clear. My only regret is I only did it for one night because a month later symptoms came back. So I'm going to do it for three nights in the row this time to see if that will keep it away permanently!! Hope this helps
In my experience, the best way to beat this stuff is by saturating a light tampon with Australian tea tree oil and using that to insert the vitamin C.
This is best done at night.
I started this on the week of my period and I plan to do this as a regular preventative for consecutive monthlys.
Also, on a daily basis I drink a concoction.
In a one quart jar,
1/2 teaspoon tumeric
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (w/ the 'mother')
Top off with filtered water and drink throughout the day.
I believe sugar and coffee and smoking are the biggest culprits of this. We share this in common, so I've noticed via comments.
Most people don't have it laying around, but Mediterranean wild oil of oregano is the most amazing ANTI-EVERYTHING in a bottle.
Use this on tampon for the most stubborn case of bv.
I truly hope your search for natural cures end HERE.
First of all I just want to thank everyone on this site for commenting and sharing the remedies that helped them. Without this site I feel like I wouldn't have had hope, nor known what to do. I was diagnosed with BV and took the 7 day course of antibiotics which helped for about three days afterwards and then it came back. I didn't have any issues with smell or discharge. My issues were burning during and after sex as well as burning during when I was peeing. I also had anal itching and irritation, as well as burning when I was washing myself with bodywash. My vagina was also even irritated when I would wipe myself after peeing. Along with redness and swelling and even feeling like I had to pee all the time. Here is what I did: I started drinking a lot of lemon water with apple cider vinegar in it. I bought women's probiotics and took them orally (a lot more than the recommended dose on the bottle.) along with putting one pill in my vagina at night. All of this seemed to help but not all the way. I didn't feel all the way normal until I douched with one part apple cider vinegar and 2 parts steam distilled water. I also bought AZO cranberry urinary tract health. Within a day of taking these pills and doing the douche I immediately felt better. I suffered with my BV symptoms for about a month before I felt better. It took me about 2 weeks to feel better after the antibiotics didn't work. I also went to my local health bar and got juices that contained: kale, parsley, lemon, dandelion, garlic, and ginger. I read that these can help balance your PH and make the good bacteria survive better in the vagina. The brand of probiotics I took was ultimate flora vaginal support 50 billion, and optima women's 90 billion active probiotics. I also used tea tree oil suppositories for vaginal health and the BH essentials probiotic vaginal suppositories for BV. All of these things helped tremendously but I immediately felt 100% better after the apple cider vinegar douche and the AZO bladder health pills. I feel like the BV had maybe travelled to my bladder making me have to pee more (just my personal conclusion). Also I took vitamin D and Vitamin C. Anyways I hope this helps somebody out there! Good luck and god bless.
Hello... Ive had bv for 3 years now and i always thought they were yeast infections and took antibiotics. Now i know its bv and am trying to get rid of it for good! Ive been bathing in apple cider vinegar and using the plain yogurt tampin method, while taking probiotics and 800 mg folic acid every morning.... Does it get worse before it gets better? I barely started two days ago, but ive had itching... Is this normal??
I just tried the vitamin c remedy. Natures Bounty 500 mg time released vitamin c. Did it two days now and it took away swelling, smell, burning, and discharge. I plan to do it 3 or 4 more nights. Wear a panty liner. Do it at night. Nothing else has worked this well.
I've been dealing with BV for the first time for about two weeks now. I have been doing the Vit. c with rose hips (reg. vit. c burns like HELL) almost everyday which takes away the odor. Taking Probiotics, folic acid, etc., eating crazy amount of yogurt. I did back off everything for a few days and felt like it was coming back, so now Im afraid to stop doing everything! I really can't live my life shoving Vit. c up my vajay everyday!! HELP!
PS. I did try to tampon/yogurt thing this morning... I'll see how it goes..
I finally have a handle on the bv that has plagued me for years. Since I've become something of an unwilling expert on the topic, I thought I'd add what I've learned. A lot of these remedies are trying to achieve the same goal. Vitamin C (absorbic acid) and vinegar (acetic acid), are acids (obviously) which lower pH. The probiotics are to get more lactobacillus bacteria populating the vagina, which in turn create lactic acid. They are different routes to the same place- low pH. In my experience, some of the recommended approaches are too harsh, they cause irritation and ultimately more harm than good. Low pH is good, up to a point. Too low (too acidic) and you will burn your skin. I use a product similar to what Ina, the commenter below me, got from her doctor. It is a lactic acid gel called Jelly, made by Ladybits Toiletries. It does the two things a bv sufferer needs any treatment to do: lower pH and help lactobacillus to flourish in the vagina (with prebiotics). Home remedies like yogurt, which contains lactic acid, can do these things, too. I like this product because it unscented and the texture is like that of lube. Over the years of battling bv, I've told my hubby, 'Sorry, honey.' too many times to count. I no more want to have sex when I've got yogurt up there, or I'm red and sore from a vitamin C or boric acid capsule, than I do when I have an active infection. At this point, I'd rather shell out the money for a commercial product (albeit a natural one) that will do what I need it to to prevent a relapse and not interfere with a normal sex life. Plus, I've had enough bad reactions to some of my 'experiments' to last a lifetime. I'm all for DIY, and lots of women have success with these methods- just be careful to be gentle with your body.
I read about a treatment in an ebook called 'Fish Fish I Got My Wish' that is available on a website with the same name. I really encourage everyone to check it out. I made the remedy at home using the information in the book and I have been free of symptoms since I started using it. Seriously saved my life!
I also had BV.
First you need to kill the bacteria by taking the flagyl and then my doctor gave me vaginal probitic lactagyl witch has Lactobacillus acidophilus,
Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp.Bulgaricus.
Basicly we get BV because the lactobacillus in the vagina has lost its balance. You insert them for 10 days and then to prevent BV to reoccur, just insert ones every 2 weeks and especially after your period has ended and you use tampons.
I have recently bought the Vitamin C with natural rose hips, the brand is Finest Nutrition from Walgreens, and I'm at the end of my rope when it comes to BV. I just wish that I could have a normal sex life and I wish that I could give my boyfriend better. I have tried everything until I saw the vitamin C pill remedy, but then I saw that it burned very badly so now I am scared to even put it in my vagina, but I want this to go away so bad. Im just looking for opinions from people about this remedy. Is your sex life back to normal? Did it burn when you used it? Please leave your input. Im tired of this smell and having to worry about it whenever Im around people or when I have sex with my boyfriend. Im tired of being embarressed when having sex...
