Still dealling with sinus and allergies...
I was taking a med that was for both, sinus and allergies. Then, my ear got stopped up and I was having chest congestion so I thought maybe I needed to switch to a cold med instead. I talked to my pharmacist and he said that I still needed the allergy med, which is an antihistamine but... He said that I could take the cold med and take an antihistamine with it. As long as the cold med didn't have an antihistamine in it... *Don't take two meds that are for the same symptom!*
***Check with your Dr. or Pharmacist***
I chose one with a: Pain reliever/ fever reducer
and an expectorant Antihistamine is for: sneezing, itchy watery eyes,
runny nose, itching of the nose & throat
A multi vitamin will help with immune system.
And for a quick fix for stopped up ears try this...
Turn your head sideways, w/ the stopped up ear toward the ceiling, hold your nose & blow very, very softly till they pop or unstop. Do a few blows soft & slow. *If you do it too hard you can hurt yourself & even damage your ear drum.*
You may have to do this several times a day, sometimes they will stop back up.
Good luck & God bless. Hope this helps some1.
Sinus Congestion Remedy:
1 cup tomatoe
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
1 teaspoon crushed or minced garlic
heat on stove/drink/feel better!
What works for me is vapor rub and eucalyptus.
I get an old pot and boil some water with eucalyptus leaves and some vapor rub.
Once it starts boiling i put my face over it for as long as I can to inhale it. I automatically feel my nostrils open up.I recommend having a tissue there as you will feel the need to blow your nose.
I try and do it about twice a day for a few days as needed. Depending on how bad you are you might see some nasty stuff come out of your nose as it is cleaning out your sinuses.
If you have trouble finding eucalyptus leaves try a Hispanic store. As it used alot for home remedies.
For sinus conjestion I usually just grab my bottle of Tabasco sauce, put a good amount on my finger and place it on my tongue, then I sniff the open end of the bottle and the hotness of the peppers will clear me right up.
Sinus congestion relief is seconds away. Take one clove of garlic, eat it and in seconds you'll have relief. If you're not big on eating garlic raw - well, take a toast or whatever bread you have, add a spread of butter, mince the garlic, put it on the bread, close the bread (as you don't want to leave the bread open/flat because the garlic will burn quickly). Once the bread is toasted, eat it and relief is seconds away. And you've just enjoyed a garlic toast.
Okay so instead of using salt and warm water, just snort up a little bit of vinegar up your nose. I know it sounds scary but it really does work. I have been congested in my nose for 3 days and i finally decided to do it. I put a couple drops of vinegar in a regular spoon and I put the spoon in my nose and snort in some of it. But in order to really get it up there you have to tilt your head back (facing the ceiling). You will feel a burning sensation and it will be pretty potent so beware. But afterwards, your nose will start to get rid of the congested mucus. Immediately I blew my nose and alot of it came out. I feel like I can finally breath again. Do this in both nostrils as well.
salt water wash for nose
I used this remedy and have not had a sinus infection in over 2 years. Sign up for your local gym or YMCA, at the first sign of congestion, go to the steam room for at least 20 minutes a day for 3 to 4 days in a row.
I boil some water and then put some A535 rubbing cream in the bottom of a bowl, pour the boiling water into the bowl with the A535 cream.. The cream gives it a menthol effect. Breathe in for about 10 - 15 minutes. your nose will feel a little discomfort because of the menthol but works like a charm.
I find that steaming yourself really helps to head sinus/congestion. (This is also a relief to nasal congestion, mild-medium coughing, and chest congestion) If you don't know what steaming is-let me enlighten you.
To steam yourself (variations possible):
1.) Boil about 5 cups of water (more or less.)
2.) Grab a towel and a bowl.
3.) After water has boiled, (recommended doing the following in the kitchen) sit at a table and pour the water in the bowl.
5.) Quickly, letting very little heat escape, sit down and place the towel over your head and the bowl.
6.) Sit there for about 15-20 minutes breathing ) in through your nose (if you have nasal congestion or head sinuses) or in through your mouth (if you have chest congestion/a cough. This can be a bit boring, so i recommend listening to the television, music, or attempting to read (however it gets dark and steamy under there!)
Even though it is hot and may cause very mild discomfort to your eyes (I close mine. It's not as though I'm missing anything under there!) try to lean over as close to the bowl as possible. You will sweat, but you will feel your your chest aching less and opening up, your nose opening up/becoming runny, as well as your head aching less and opening up.
The steam helps open up your pores! It is great to apply acne medicine after this as it does wonders to your skin!
As you can see I have found this as a relief to many ailments including the following:
-mild to medium coughing
-sinus (especially head) congestion
(even opening up your pores!)
I hope it helps you as much as me! Although it is a pain in the butt, I find that it does work wonders!
Get better soon! :)))
