Whilst the medical profession views genital herpes as incurable, it has been discovered that with natural medicine, it can be reversed. Herbs such as galangal, lapacho, astragalus, una de gato (also known as Cat's Claw), myrrh, ligustrum and pansy are antiviral. Thyme, licorice, and cayenne are all herbs that specifically fight the herpes virus.

Reishi, which is a mushroom, boosts the immune system and is also antiviral. Lysine is an amino acid which is known to control and aid in the prevention of Herpes.

Thuja cream and propolis can be put directly onto the skin to soothe the irritation caused by the blisters, as well as combat herpes itself.

To reverse herpes, as well as defend against its return, a healthy immune system is vital. Echinacea, vitamin c, and zinc are some of the nutrients that help build healthy immunity.

In order to get the right dose and combination of nutrition, it is important to see a practitioner who can ensure that the treatment is tailored for each individual. While two people can have exactly the same symptoms, they may need entirely different treatments. If you are suffering from this virus, find a practitioner who is experienced with treating genital herpes.

The most important thing to remember is that with natural medicine there is a lot of hope. Genital herpes is reversable and many people who once suffered tremendously from continual outbreaks are now enjoying healthy, active sex lives.

I have had GH for over 40 years now, and cold sores even longer. Lord, have I spent a lot of money and tried a lot of stuff!

A few years ago a natural product called Virasoothe was recommended to me by a Nurse friend. It is a GODSEND! The ingredients are all essential oils and herbs. Do a search, it's made in New Zealand. Do your own due diligence, but I swear by it

Nearly 3 years I go I was raped and consequently was infected with GH. Emotionally, I have been able to deal with what was forced on me however have still not yet been able to come to terms with the nasty disease I now have to live with. I had just turned 18 at the time so it upsets me knowing that having a normal sex life is something I will never get to experience. To me sex shouldn't come with the anxiety and humiliation of having to tell your partner what you have first, and putting them in the awkward position of choosing what they want to do. It still botheres me when conversations get brought up about how stupid people must be to get an std, because truth is, we're not stupid; we're unfortunate and as luck would have it we normally arn't the ones that sleep around! So my point is that the physical pain of herpes isn't the only pain that needs a remedy, the emotional part does too! My first outbreak was bad but not as bad as the one I have right now. I have in excess of 15 blisters at present and i find it impossible to even move. Tea tree oil is a godsend however! The relief, calming and drying sensation it provides is everything we need and crave when we get these real nasty breakouts. Normally, a salted bath can provide enough relief however this outbreak for me is far worse then what any of my previous ones have been. If you do thorough research you will realize that there arn't too many options for relief with GH so take on board the few options that there and see you gp. I am still far to embarrassed to see my normal doctor about this so I see a seperste doctor for these matters and will even use a different chemist. For me, I feel like it it is one measure I can take to avoid word ever getting out about having it. ..

Well, I'm no expert, but I've had GH for a few years now and I've learned some things through trial and error :) Hope I can save some of you the trouble...

It seems there are remedies for different points of the process. So Lysine and Zinc are great for prevention of an outbreak. Keep stress down.

Also, GH thrives in heat, so applying ice before a breakout can prevent the breakout from occurring.

GH responds well to tannins (like in tea and wine). Some burn creams contain great ingredients for GH like tannic acid, methol and zinc. All of those works on different aspects from drying to pain relief. Check the ingredients first and make sure those are listed.

Rubbing alcohol applied the area will help with drying the OB and shorten the length. It can also help as prevention if applied before the OB.

I find that OTC GH meds work best if the main ingredient is zinc oxide.

I hope some of this short list is helpful. Good luck out there!

Thank God for these sites though. Bless you all. Im a 38 year old male. The first time I found out I had GH I cried and felt like shit. I took the chance with someone I wouldve given anything for. Im not sure if she knew she had it, but I knew it was her who gave it to me. Nah, she knew she had it. She told me she was unable to have kids due to some misfortune in her uterus. Talked some shit about someone giving her chlamydia blah blah blah. After my research on the individual I found out she was a local whore, (I was visiting another 1st world Country)I was in Love with everything I wanted her to be. I came back to Canada with GH and hated myself for not being smarter. We broke up and Ive moved on, being honest with my new found partner about my condition. This might not be the best advice at all, it's not even advice. I've had GH for 3 years and OH (cold sores) since I was 13. Ive noticed that after intense kissing throughout my teens, 20s and 30s... I never transferred oral herpes to anyone. Im not a doctor, but I feel like the condition needs to be active in order for it to be transferred. What doesnt make sense is that the chick I recieved GH from, showed no signs. Now, All experienced dudes (and dudettes) know if you're gunna have sex while an outbreak is in full swing, your partner is overly likely to take a loot bag home with a box of GH in it. But, Ive been having sex with my most recent partner of 3 years, sometimes using a condom and sometimes not using one, while healthy (no symptoms and feeling fine)and she has been unaffected. Are we playing Russian Roulette? I would hate myself if she suffered as I have or some of the women Ive read about on this site. Most of you probably think we're stupid, but we've both noted that when Im healthy, Im not a hazard. Do remember in no way am I suggesting to have sex unprotected while your condition lays dormant. Dont do it. Yes we are stupid.

In terms of treatment I use Valtrex 3 times a day for 5 days which works with me well. The disease is neutralized quickly and healing appears to begin right away. The only problem I have is the skin on my penis repairing itself after the sores/blisters have dried up and flaked off. For that I used a little cocoa butter and pure vitamin e on a qtip. Seems to take a bit longer but I would rather that than picking at dry scabs.

Shower everyday, change underwear frequent. Keep sanitizer around for yourself and your place. Eat healthy. Take your vitamins.

A lil advice for cold sores as I rarely get them since my outbreaks as a kid: Dont have your lips overly exposed to sun or cold. Keep ur lips healthy. Clean hands when dealing with your lips. Have a trusted combination of lip products always handy. Know your initial signs and act early. You can stop an outbreak. I use : Blistex DCT lip balm/sunscreen everyday - If I feel tingling I immediately combine Blistex Medicated Lip ointment (red m white tube)or just use it alone - and if the tingling has made it to emergency stage and I start feeling micro bumps on my lip I combine Lipactin gel or use it alone. My shut down rate is like a 98%.

All the best

I have been suffering from HSV for 3 years now. Reading some of the posts about the first OB brings back awful memories, but guys the pain does get better. Other OBs will not be as severe and painful. Just get through this first one.

I have tried acyclovir and valacyclovir. Acyclovir did nothing and valacyclovir helped a little. It decreased my outbreaks to about 1 every other month. Prior to that they were back to back.

I recently stopped taking valacyclovir because I felt that it is not very effective. Not quite worth the price and taking the pills day in and day out. I was diagnosed with depression 1 year ago, so the pills are just adding up. I'm in my 20's and I feel like a grandmother with all of these prescriptions on my nightstand.

I want to try some of the home remedies I've seen on this site. I have only tried the Epsom salt bath. It is a great temporary relief of the itching and pain, but it doesn't necessarily make the sores go away any faster. I take 1-2 baths per day and soak for at least an hour. Very soothing, but time consuming.

If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I am not a fan of putting anything on the sores (they are normally on my anus) but if I need to I can try. I'd like to find more preventative remedies. Anything suggestions would be helpful.

hey just wanted to say thanks for the info on this site it has been very helpful. I never tried any remedies before, and would sometimes have back to back outbreaks, but thanks to me now taking L-lysine I have not had a outbreak since about April and if I think that I may be getting one I pop a pill and it goes back to hibernation I guess. I only take the 500 mg every other day an this is for GH. On the other hand my husband says L-lysine seems to make him have a outbreak, so I got him oil of OREGANOL capsules and he takes one daily and one CATS CLAW which seems to be working for him. he says he have not had a outbreak in about a month. he takes one of the oregano daily along with the cats claw.

A few days ago was what I thought to be the worst day of my life, I was diagnosed with genital herpes (HSV-2). I am 19 years old and have not slept with many men nor do I sleep around. I was taken advantage of two weeks ago while intoxicated by a man who I have not spoken to since. Since I have been diagnosed, I have not left my bed because I am in such severe pain. I can barely walk and tried my hardest not to pee because I would cry it was so excruciating. I have been through numerous painful scenarios and have a VERY high pain tolerance but this is the WORST pain I have ever been in. I am sure during your first outbreak or any others, most of you are in the same boat as far as pain during urination. Within the past few days, I have attempted several things to make peeing less painful. I peed in a warm bath tub, I peed in a warm bath tub while holding ice to my sores, I tried standing up while peeing directly into my toilet attempting to avoid the urine from hitting my sores, and I poured cold water down my vagina while peeing. All these methods helped but in the smallest way. Peeing was still IMPOSSIBLE. Finally, I decided to take a water bottle and insert it into my vagina similar to inserting a tampon but of course I do not push it any further than just having the tip of the water bottle entering the hole. THIS HAS BEEN MY LIFE SAVER. I can finally urinate with barely any pain. Unfortunately, I also have the herpes spreading to my anus so I have yet to have any bowel movements because of how painful it is and cannot use the water bottle trick for there lol. But please try this trick for peeing if you are in my shoes!!!!!!!

All of your posts have been a Godsend! You are all good people who, along with my caring and supportive boyfriend, have probably just saved my life. I have freshly been diagnosed with GH YESTERDAY, and haven't stopped crying, since. It is such a painful outbreak, and a diagnosis of which is so difficult emotionally for me to deal, that if I had a gun I would have most likely shot myself. But as I sat sobbing uncontrollably in my boyfriend's truck after picking up my prescribed Valaclyclover at Walgreens, he assured me that he still cares very deeply for me and would never leave me because of this diagnosis. Then he said, 'Who knows? I could have passed it on to you...' Even though he has shown no symptoms other than a cold sore, as of yet.

And ironically, this is the boyfriend I left in order to date another guy who had an outbreak months ago and blamed it on me, even though he has a female 'friend' with the genital herpes virus. Hmmmm. Needless to say, I stopped dating him. Looks like I went back to the right guy.

Now that I have these terrible symptoms, and the support of my current
boyfriend, I realize that it's a waste of time to focus on the past. In order to heal, I must channel my energies into the present and future, and your wonderful posts have helped with this process.

Because of the newness of all of this, the verdict is still out on the velaclyclover (seems to help a little), and the numbing jelly (which doesn't seem to work at all). Aspirin has been keeping me pain free, but I have to remember to take it every four hours or else I am doomed.
I just applied tea tree oil with 20 Q- tips an hour ago (one per lesion), and that seems to have helped a lot. It no longer hurts to pee, and the painful pressure is off of my vagina when I stand or walk. But I will warn you...it is like receiving acupuncture on your wounds. I have about 20 lesions, if not more, and they take turns prickling for a few minutes. In a way this is good...allowing me to attend to every one of them, in order to give them the love and compassion they need and deserve in order to heal. It is still not the perfect pain free remedy, but far better than the highly concentrated painful feeling I had before. I am hoping I can return to work tomorrow, but still am uncertain. At least I am not as sleepy today as I was yesterday.

I will also try to orally take zinc, since that seems to wipe out a cold for me.

Once again, thanks for all of your suggestions and posts. I plan to look into the bee propolis and black seed oil next time I am in the health food store.

Love and best of intentions to all of you who are GH survivors. Keep fighting the good fight and may the force be with you.

K

The one and only remedy I use is Grapefruit Seed Extract (pills or liquid mixed in juice). I use it as a preventative treatment, as well. Powerful stuff and boosts the immune system like nothing else.
