I was reaching for the pliers to yank it out myself, it hurt SO bad!! Here's how I found relief.

Brushed with Colgate Sensitive ENAMEL PROTECT, foamed it up good and held it there for a minute. Flossed to make sure there was not hidden food in there. Rinsed with a good antiseptic mouthwash until my gums burned from the alcohol. Globbed on some Orajel Severe Toothache Pain Relief and I was finally able to put down the pliers for a while.
Swallowed some Tylenol PM and went to bed with a cheek full of goo.
Did this as needed for about a week and I could eat again.

So I was having horrific tooth pains, so bad I couldn't sleep, and I decided to make my own 'toothache cocktail' that has worked so far! I crushed 4 Excedrine Migraine's, added 1/2 tsp of baking soda, a little orajel, a teaspon of water, and a few drops of peppermint extract. It makes a paste, and I rubbed it on my tooth with a q-tip. The pain is basically gone and I finally feel well enough to sleep!

OMGosh, I thought I was going to die. ( Found the Solution) I had a tooth ache from u kno were last week. I thought all my teeth on one side was aching thats how bad I hurt. I didnt think i was going to make it, I wanted to do some crazy stuff i felt so bad. I could Not think right. I cried like a baby my mouth hurt so bad. No Money, No Insurance. I tried the ADVIL until it didnt work anymore, Packed tooth with DenTek once I completely cleaned the tooth that keeps the junk out but dont heal pain, I tried BAKING SODA until it didnt work any more, WATER until it didnt work anymore, COLGATE ORABASE MAXIMUM PAIN RELIEF until it didnt work anymore, CLOVE OIL which helped for a few minutes but made my mouth raw. The whole time crying like a baby.

I started reading this when I ran across an insert and I dont remember who but they saved my soul. They said I needed Amoxicillin 500mg and I remembered I had some from a cold years ago for infection and I ran across some Etoloac 400mg from an accident many years back for pain (I hate Taking Meds) and at the mercy i took my chances and it worked and it made since, of course Im no doctor. My tooth/ gum was infected and was aggravating the nerves like a mutha F*****.

You will need some pain killers to make you rest and relax until those nerves calm down. a week later I still feel the throbbing but no pain its like the medicine is masking it until all the infection is gone, I need some more Amoxicillin which i order rush online from a pet store another name is (FIX MOX) which is the same I understand. I tried calling around and many stores was forced to stop carrying them without prescriptions. So keep this on the Low so when people are in agony they can find a non expensive solution.

Just remember to relax. Try to get antibiotics to kill infection before you exhaust the benefits of your pain killer because the nerves will become immune to the pain medicine and you are then left to run about the streets naked with no shame. I swore up and down that I was going to the doctor when I got better but I havent thought of it, its one of my goals for the future as things financially get better. Hope This Helps. Dont Sell Your Soul as You are Going Through This, Stay Strong. Remember this helped me and may not help everyone. Good Luck!!!! Fel from Dallas, TX

Make a pot of strong coffee. As strong as you can get it. The caffiene helps ease the pain. My brothers Dr. turned him onto this for migraine headaches, but it works for toothaches as well.

I have a cracked and infected molar and am in severe pain - and can't get into the dentist for 2 weeks! Guess this'll teach me to ignore 'minor' pain, huh? After reading most of the posts on here, I finally found something that really worked well for me and thought I'd share. I finely crushed 10 reg asprin (luckily I have a pill crusher), 1/2 tsp baking soda & about 1/3 tube (what I had left) of oragel severe toothace together w/a tiny bit of hot water & a couple of drops of pure vanilla extract- enough to make a thick paste. I applied it w/a q-tip to the sore tooth and it worked almost instantly! Dosen't taste great(the vanilla helps tho) but has kept the pain away for almost 30 min now, and will hopefully last long enough for the sleeping pills to kick in enough for me to sleep. I also rubbed some odor free aspercreme on my cheek (no fumes like icy hot, so no burn). Not sure if that's helped, but thought I'd mention it too. Good luck everyone!

Most OTC pain medications work well, but NSAIDs tend to work better as they work on both pain and the inflammation that causes it. Ibuprofen (motrin), ketoprofen (orudis), aspirin, Naproxen (Aleve) are examples of NSAIDs. If any of those medicines do not work alone you can try adding 1/2 to 1 full dose of Tylenol (Acetaminophen) to enhance the pain relieving effects of a NSAID. This can probably only be done with the tylenol as it works differently then a nsaid. Combining the same type of pain relievers is a bad idea though so _Don't_ take 2 NSAIDs together, instead take something like ibuprofen and tylenol making sure not to exceed the recommended dose on either.

Another pain med option is the topical meds that you can buy most anywhere. Most are 'caine' anesthetics that work great for acute/sharp pain for short periods. Dipping a cotton swab in the stuff and holding the swab between the tooth hurting and the cheek may help. An alternative you could try is mixing the liquid pain releiver with a little bit of petroleum jelly to get it to stay on the tooth a little longer.

Oil of Cloves also is a good choice and usually works better on chronic/nagging pain then 'caine' type anesthetics (it is also called Eugenol which is the same stuff dentists use to numb up the gums and often gives their offices that odd spice aroma). If you can't find it in the medicine isle, cloves from the spice rack also work (they also contain some of the oil) but is a weaker alternative. To use regular cloves you will need to chew them a little to get the oil to release, then put the chewed up cloves between the hurting tooth and cheek and change as needed.

Changing the pH of your mouth sometimes helps. Try gargling a flat diet coke/pepsi/or fruit juice to make the mouth more acidic. Conversely you can also try some baking soda in water to make the mouth more alkaline. Which type works will depend on what pH is aggravating the pain.

Teas containing mint or other herbs often sooth by both increasing the acidity of the mouth and/or by virtue of the herbs themselves by calming the sensitive nerve or by reducing inflammation.

Rinses can also be used to help abscesses drain. Examples would be salt water rinses. Household Hydrogen Peroxide antiseptic can also be used as a mouth rinse by diluting it with equal amounts of water, taking care not to swallow it.

Another option is covering/filling the cavity causing the pain. Nowadays you can find temporary tooth filling kits in most stores that usually combine a cement type filling powder and eugenol pain releiver, or some other combination of materials. These fillings tend to last anywhere from a couple of days to a week. I recommend getting 2 filling kits as it takes a little practice to get it right.

My toothache pain was relieved within a single minute or so by placing a whole clove between the cheek and the affected tooth. Yesterday, over a 15 hour period I took 2400 mg of px strength Ibuprofin. I have been 12 hours since taking any Ibu...today. Blessings!
