I have a broken filling, not a big hole but big enough. I need to get a Root Canal done on this tooth. I went to Walgreens and purchased a temporary fill kit (same stuff the dentist uses) and packed it myself. This seems to help the pain immensly, especially with about 100MGs of Ibuprofen. I went to the dentist and he gave me Hydrocodone, this stuff was awesome the first time but has not effect anymore, now only putting warm water in my mouth and holding it for a while works. I feel all your pain!

YOU WILL NEED 2 COFFEE FILTERS AND SOMETHING TO TIE THE BAG UP WITH SO THAT ALL THE CONTENTS IN THE BAG WILL BE IN A BALL THAT YOU WILL SLIDE INTO YOUR MOUTH WHERE YOUR PAIN IS! YOU WILL NEED A TEASPOON OF SALT,A TEASPOON OF NUTMEG, GREEN TEA=CUT IT OUT OF THE BAG AND PLACE A TEASPOON INTO THE FILTER,MINCED GARLIC! 4SHAKES OF BLACK PEPPER!! MUSH IT ALL TOGETHER THE SMELL IS HORRIBLE I KNOW!! AFTER YOU HAVE MIXED ITTIE THE BAG UP TO WHERE THE COFFEE FILTER HAS A BALL AT THE END WITH ALL THE THINGS IN IT!!(DO NOT SWALLOW) LET THIS SIT IN YOUR MOUTH FOR 10 MIN! OR LONGER IF YOU'D LIKE!! Hands down Pure Lemon Extract. I have a gigantic hole in my tooth and the pain is excruciating. I took a small piece of a cotton ball..soaked it in the lemon extract and stuffed it in the hole. Be careful not to put too much or it will burn the hell out of you! It will take about 30 seconds and the pain will ease up and go away for a while...long enough for you to go to sleep =D.

I really hope this helps you.

Wow! - I love this site. You all saw me through the dark days of a horrible toothache a week or so ago. I wanted to give back and share some of the (many) things I tried during that time also.

I got the best relief from a product called Clovanol (oil of Clove Buds). You can also chew or mash cloves from your spice rack and even add them to olive or veg. oil and put on tooth or gum.

The active ingredient is Eugenol and it helps numb the area and take the edge off. Another really great thing I tried was OregaDent that has several ingredients including Pain Root (Canada Balsam) that was even stronger and really helped.

The doctor prescribed prescription strength Motrin 800mg for Inflammation, but the coating tasted like soap so I just took 4 200mg Advil every 6 hrs. instead. (Check w/your doctor first). I now just started taking InflamEez and Zyflamend to see if I can do that instead of Motrin or Advil for the inflammation.

As my Mom always says, though, 'A toothache is a pain a pill can't touch!'
A product called WOW! Drops also helped. Very minty and strong. I put it on a Q-Tip and put it back by the tooth and it brought some relief.

All of this was for a toothache that was so bad that I was tempted to pull it out with my fingers myself when it got really bad. Pain would come and go, but when it was bad it was the worst pain I had ever felt (even compared to another toothache I had in the past).

Hope something here helps someone. I am going to try something called PerioRub next and see how that does. I don't like to take 'medicine' or chemical OTC or Prescription medicine, so I tried several 'health food store' things. I ordered these online since I felt too bad to go out anywhere.

Who ever came up with the idea of using pure vanilla extract on toothache's is a
GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Very serious here,I was in pain all day ,have been for a while. But
today it got unbearable.I decided to search for home remedies found this site
and tried a few.The one one that saved the day was the vanilla. It worked almost immediately.I used a cotton swab to put it directly on the bad spot and felt
it subside almost right away.I repeated
this twice and have no pain in over a hour. Thanks for the great idea!!!!

Give this a try it really worked for
me. Good luck........

I've had toothache for the past few days, and its been ridiculously painful tonight, I've just dabbed some vodka on the gum and top of the tooth where it needs a filling and it immediately numbed. I'm so pleased as I've tried everything! Hope this helps! :)

you can buy tumeric from harris teeter or any indian store, sometimes walmart.
then make a paste and apply where it hurts.
i have learned it from my grandmother and she told me it is a common herbal treatment in the villages of Bangladesh and it was really good treatment.
It should start kicking in with in 10 mins.
