I'm a dental assistant and have been for many years. One of the home remedies I would recommend would be warm salt water rinses. Hold the water in the area of the mouth that is heurting until the water cools, then repeat. You can do this as often as you like. The other remedy is placing cloves from your kitchen on the tooth. Cloves have a natural soothing effect to the nerve of the tooth. Wrap the cloves in a small piece of cloth or cotton 2X2 and moisten. Place over toothace and close gently.
i have had the worse toothache ever....i mean unbearable and of course on a weekend where there is no dentist available.....so i rinsed my mouth with warm salt water(a couple of times) then after that i took a q-tip and dipped it in wild turkey whiskey and took the q-tip and pressed down on my broken absessed tooth with it....i let the whiskey from the q-tip leak onto my tooth...then i took a piece of bread and placed it over my tooth so there were no air getting to it.....it helped....i fell asleep a little after....this helped me and i hope it helps you because i know what its like
Well gargle with warm salt water.......a few times....and then two caps of rubbing alcohol....lol the things you think of when your in pain and insane from the tooth aches...
I put tiger balm on my face around where my toothache is, as well as along my jaw and down my neck a bit, then rinsed my mouth with warm water and a lot of salt (I mean it, don't go easy. The taste isn't pleasant, but it's worth it.), then sort of filled the hole in my tooth with garlic powder, and the pain was so gone, so fast that I swear, I almost cried from relief. Rinsing with the salt water isn't fun. Personally, it makes me feel a little like I'm drowning in the ocean. But it's worth it.
I had this bad toothache that I didn't know how to get rid of. It is a broken molar that had been causing severe pain the last few days. So this is what got me relief within 10-15 minutes:
I rinsed my mouth with a mixture of warm water and plenty of salt for a couple of minutes. Then afterwards, because I didn't have a clove of garlic to bite down on a piece of it, I got the next best thing- Garlic Powder!
So what I did is dip my finger tip in some of the warm water & salt mixture and then into the garlic powder. I then proceeded with putting some of the Garlic Powder into the broken off area of the tooth and when I felt there was enough in it, I then started putting some of the garlic powder all around the tooth and gum area. And shortly afterwards the pain was COMPLETELY gone! It's going in an hour now- and still no pain!
After you apply the garlic to the tooth and gum area, give it 10-15 minutes to start working. I was almost tempted to sip water again and let it stand in the affected area to relief the pain because it wasn't immediate- which might have washed out the garlic powder, but I am glad I waited a few extra minutes now the pain IS GONE!!! And if it does coma back in a few hours- I'll repeat this procedure until this tooth can be extracted. Hope this gives you some relief.
This method has been mentioned a couple of times on the toothache topic string, and I thought I'd add my experience. Here's what finally worked for me, after three days of intense pain and huge doses of Ibuprofen became ineffective.
Brush your teeth thoroughly with Sensodyne (especially the aching area). Rinse your mouth vigorously with Listerine (the antibacterial agents will fight the infection that more than likely is contributing to your problems).
Then, for more antibacterial action, use Gly-Oxide, an antiseptic oral cleaner. (It's available at most big drug stores.)
Finally, use a liberal amount of Ambesol or a similar oral anesthetic to knock the pain down while the other steps take effect.
The combination of a different pain reliever, the Sensodyne and the antibacterial agents really worked wonders for me. I hope it helps you too. Toothache pain is simply the worst.
my eooth has been hurting for a few days & i tried several of the remedies off thi site but eventually they all quit working. I needed something to get me through the night so my granma had me 'CRUSH A ASPRIN & PUT IT ON THE TOOTH THAT HURTS' i finally was able 2 sleep all night
i have had toot ache for 5 days now and cnt get sorted for ever 2 weeks so i tryed all the ideas from everyone and none worked for me.... so i got a glass of cold milk and drunk it straight after i got icr WRAPED in cloth make sure and wrap it ( light tee cloth i suggest ) and put it on my gum . it hurt for a bit bt then i didnt feel a thing after it .... last for abot 45 minutes ... hope it helps you too :D
I have not found permanent relief for a toothache yet, but if you want to sleep, this will provide relief.
First, put icyhot or vicks on the face outside of where the ache is. Then, get a hot or cold washcloth (whatever you prefer. I think hot feels best) and place it on your face and try going to sleep. I sometimes will wake up and have to reapply or I will wake up and it is completely gone! All depends on the person!
