It's not really a home remedy, but the Blistex original lip conditioner, it comes in a little pot and it works amazingly! I had really dry, sore and red lips and this is the only thing that worked. :)
Hi all! I make a home peppermint lip scrub that is amazing for getting rid of the dead skin and softening my lips! It is just coconut oil, honey, sugar, and peppermint oil! The link is:
TEA TREE OIL - this stuff is an instant miracle. My lips were severely dry, rough and flakey. Cover your lips with it, let it absorb a little, and the roughness will slough off gently using a wet towel. After the roughness is gone, then you can use a lip balm to keep them soft. If your lips are just sore, sleep with a generous amount over your lips. When you wake up, they will be healed.
Step 1 - Drink water.
Step 2 - Exfoliate lips with a wet toothbrush.
Step 3 - Slather on Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips.
My lips have never been softer.
My lips were the same as everyone else has said. And tried all of these suggestions for managing it. But the thing it stumbled on the PREVENTED it, was Vitamin B12.
I read that Vitamin B12 deficiencies can cause chapped lips. And one of the reasons was over use of antacids. I had had atom he issues for years and was taking those daily (have since discovered it was food sensitivities).
My lips are now, as my husband says 'kissable'
apply a little bit of lotion on chapped area, let it sit for 1-5 minutes, then gently rub off the lotion with a washcloth with warm water. do this every morning and night until your lips are healed. be sure not to swallow the lotion.
Put two teaspoons of sugar in a bowl, and one teaspoon of honey. Mix well and put onto chapped, dry, flaky lips. Rub off with warm water after about 10-20 mins.. Works instantly =D
I have had chapped, red, dry lips that have been hurting for a while. I went on a lot of websites, couldn't find the same thing. So, my Dad bought me Burt's Bees Ultra Moisturizing lip treatment. It comes in a tube. Put on pure petrolatum jelly, let it sit on you lips for 20 minutes, and the put on the Burt's Bees lip moisturizer. The moisturizer has everything, lanolin, castor oil, beeswax, honey... And after you put on the petrolatum jelly and lip moisturizer, you will feel GREAT! Hope I helped.
I had severely burning, flaking, tender, itchy & sore lips. Even the skin around my lips was painful, dry, itchy, stinging and flaky. I tried everything (Chapstick $1 to Clinique $24) until I read the remedies on here. I tried two things which successfully worked for me. I can add that they are also pretty inexpensive (Walmart). One is the nipple cream which provided immediate relief. Lansinoh was suggested but it was sold out and I ended up buying Medela-it still worked. I also tried Aquaphor healing ointment (not the lip balm-it burned) which also worked as far as keeping the lip area moisturized but it didn't seem to feel quite as soothing as the nipple butter with its immediate relief of the burning and itching. Whew-I feel better-no more pain. Who knew?
Ok, so for the past few weeks I have not wanted to step outside because my lips were terrible. It wasn't just my lips, the areas around it were red and ugly.
So, I mixed some brown sugar and olive oil into a tiny cup until it was pasty. Then, I got a pinch of it and rubbed it gently on my lips for around 2 minutes. Then, I patted water on to clean them. (And patted them dry)
Afterwards I applied whatever good lip balm I could find. My lips were great 5 minutes after, and feel nice too. Try it out!
