164 Home Remedies for Sunburn

Green Tea is very healing for sunburns, uv damage or any type of burn. You could put about 20 tea bags in your bath tub, or you could buy a pre packaged tea bath from somewhere like

I know this isn't a home remedy, but it works wonders for me...I purposefully sit out in the sun to burn so that I can tan, otherwise, I just do not tan. At Walmart, there is a brand of aloe, called Ocean Potion, it is beyond amazing, not a gel, just a water-based lotion that you can apply as often as you want...I literally put it on every 15 minutes or so right when I come in from sun'burning' It is only a few dollars too, right under $4 to be exact

This may sound like a strange remedy, because it is.i'm 98.99% sure it will work. get some milk, ketchup, cortizone, and vinegar. mix the milk and ketchup until the milk turns red. then add an appropriate amount of vinegar. stir well. put it in the fridge. then take the cortizone and apply to the burned area. wait 10-15 minutes. apply cortizone again. take out mix and dip fingers into mix. rub into area with cortizone. then let it sit. repeat if needed. ONLY USE THE CORTIZONE 3-4 TIMES A DAY.

ketchup works like a charm!!!!!! sounds gross i know but just try it!!!! it has tomato and vinegar................ no duh it works

Every summer I get at least one bad sunburn, but hey it's summer. You're supposed to spend it under the sun and be carefree. I'm a Cali girl, I spend a lot of days on the beach and even in a tanning bed.
The only thing I've found to work for my skin, is using avocado. You want to get 2-4 of them, depending on the affected area, and mashed them up with a fork in a bowl. Do not use the outer part, only the insides. You can just use that and rub a nice layer over your burn, or you can add olive oil, or mayo and aloe vera. Lay down and let it sit on you for about an hour to two hours until it turns a darkish brown almost black color. Then wipe it off with a Luke warm towel and apply more or take a shower. Then do the other side. But do NOT and I repeat do NOT apply it to both sides and lay down on a towel. If you do that the avocado will dry and the towel will be stuck to your skin and trying to pull it off hurts like a bitch!
The avocado restores the vitamins and nutrients that got burnt out of the skin, takes the heat and pain out within minutes and you'll be fine the next day. And tan within 2-3 days. I am at least.

SPECIAL NOTE: This only works the day of the burn, put it on as SOON as possible, do not wait.

Okay, so if you have a really bad sunburn, this works like magic. Basically, take a glass of lukewarm water and let a few bags of black tea sit in it until the water is dark brown or black. Then take a wash cloth you don't care too much about and blot it on the sunburned area. The most importat step is to NOT RINSE IT OFF. Leave it on for as long as possible and let it do it's work. It is best to do this right before you go to bed so that you may rinse it off in the morning. It worked for me, but everyone's skin is different.

Me and my brother went Tubing with my best friend/his girlfriend and he brother and sister-in-law. We each got a sunburn, but me, my brother, and his girlfriend got the worse of it. I came to this site for some suggestions... I've found a lot of them, but some of them contradict eachother. So, if anyone could comment to let me know the absolute BEST home remedy, that'd be much appreciated. And, great! Thanks. (:

Whenever I get a sunburn, normal or severe, i apply cold and fresh peppermint tea. the mint is really soothing and the tea helps it heal. I've tried several other types of things and nothing works this well.

I just got a really bad sunburn from being on the beach and what really helped me was buying Sea Breeze and putting it on the burnt areas of my skin. It's a deep cleaning astringent. It doesn't help with the itching but it's a miracle worker for the pain. I really hope this helps.

I fill a spray bottle with 50/50 vinegar (apple or white) and water with enough lavender and tea tree essential oils and spray all over. Then lavender essential oil with a decent carrier oil to help keep moisture in. Helps for the burn/pain and to help heal skin.
