I have had psoriasis for 17 yrs now. The only thing I have found, and I know this is weird. Kerasal, you find it in the foot isle at Wal-mart, Meijer, ect. It has 5% salicylic acid. I use my steroid ointment from the doctor, then on top of it I put the Kerasal. About 95% of the spots I have had it on, have been gone for a year or more. Once in awhile I will start to get a spot and I use it and it's gone. I have to use the steroid ointment to get rid of the red spot..But, once it is gone it is gone. And I have tried about everything this page and this has been the only thing that has worked for me. Oh!! yeah, this isn't and over night thing...It took most of my spots a month or so to get rid of, an I did them twice a day, once in the morning and once before bed time. Hope this helps.
I have had it on my feet for almost two years...what keeps it at bay is putting apple cider vinegar on each nite and then a lotion from Origins for the body called A Perfect World. I used to work for Origins and the products are all natural and chemical free. The Perfect World has shea butter in it, which is what is helping I think...If I miss a few days, it comes back. but as long as I do it every nite, it's almost gone. The skin there is still a little pinkish-red, but no longer all gross, crusty and flaky...big believer in ACV !!!
I posted this earlier in the year, and I see a few are trying it with good results. So I thought I would post it again, My wife has suffered for along time, her's has been cleared up for almost a year now. It does work well with plaque psoarsis!!! here is the original post. She also tried Butt-aid from Walmart not the same does not work! it is missing parafin (wax).
I know this sounds strange it only cost a dollar, but it works!!!!!
try Baby's Butt-Aid from the Dollar Tree store. The scales have stopped even the redness is gone
only Baby's Butt-Aid (which is the name) from the Dollar Tree store works it comes in a yellow tube.
just put on the thinnist layer
we are up to over a dozen people with plaque psoarsis it has cleared up. still using it continually once a day. be sure to shower using head & shoulders for your soap or equiv.
Also add 50 mg of zinc that seems to help in keeping psoarsis away.
We stumbled on this by trying everything on the market, we found everything works to a slight degree but after using for a short time the psoarsis came back. With the Butt-Aid it has stayed away.!!!!!!
I think this is probably the best site I have found where it is people helping people with certain remedies that have yielded success in their own lives. For that, Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.
I've read through most of these and it has only been a week since trying a few of these suggestions out, but the outcome so far is worth it. I started to develop small dry skin patches on my left side (rib cage area) that had expanded a little and also on my right shoulder area that started working its way down to my chest area. It does start to make you self conscious and with summer right around the corner and tons of pool parties that will happen, I wanted to find a solution to help keep it under control. this site is everything I was hoping for as I am not one to go spend a hundred bucks on creams that may or may not work.
Here is what I have been using for the last week and I hope it might help someone else out. All of this, I purchased from Walgreens.
Dr. Teal's therapeutic solutions Epsom Salt
Aveeno (active naturals) Moisturizing Bar w/ natural colloidal oatmeal
Rich conditioning petroleum jelly (cocoa butter)
I take a salt bath after work (3 times a week - Mon, Wed, Fri) and I soak for 20 mins, gently washing the Psoriasis areas a few times. After the bath, I apply petroleum jelly for the night to the areas (not clumps of it, but I make sure every area is covered evenly)
When I wake up the next morning, I take a shower, luke warm water and wash with the Aveeno soap and after my shower, I apply my petroleum jelly.
I have been doing this for only a week now and I have seen my spots go from red colored starting to develop the dry white flakes, to almost skin colored with no white flakes visible.
This site helped me so I hope it helps someone else out.
Many thanks to the people that have posted recomendations on this site. My son has had Psoriasis since he was 6 years old, he is now 14. The psoriasis had covered much of his head, back, knees, elbows, and was spreading. We had the same response from the doctors that many have noted here, (so sorry). After reading this entire site, I started with the Vitamin D 6,000 iu per day. 6 tablespoons a day of the cod liver oil, and the Butt Aid for the skin. December 25th was our start date, and we have done this treatment every day since. I am very happy to say, that almost all of the spots on his back and sides are gone. The head was first to start clearing. The elbows were next to clear, and the legs seem to be last to clear, still some spots there. Its as if he has cleared from the top down. He has always had a problem with digestion, and suspect that the cod liver oil is doing its job cleaning out the toxins. The vitamin D, and also I forgot, he is taking one Zinc tablet per day, must be doing there thing as well. Anyway, thanks again to all those that have written in with their stories. We couldn't have done it with out you all. JE Little Rock, AR

My mother use to take my brother and I down to a sulphur creek once or twice a year around the beging of summer when the water was worm enough to set down in and we would scrape the wet muddy orange sulpher off the rocks and put it on are psoriasis . and soak about a half hour to one hour and it would totally clear them up, No red spots no flaks . Some time we would go back a second time but it usually works the first time .
In the winter months though we would start seeing them again but my brother would be cover with them by the end of winter ,even his scalp was like one big psoriasis.
My mother told me back in the olden days this is how people got rid of psoriasis.
NOTE - never swim in creeks because of underwater wool pools that could pull you in and drown you.

i have suffered from psoriasis from i believe 12 or 13 yrs young. it started ass really itchy red bumps all over even on my face 1 night i was taken to mexico were they said it was an allergy and they gave me like 12 shots the bumps turned into purpleish red spots which i know now are plaques. later a dermatoligist at Kaiser said i had P and that all the shots most likely dropped my immune system to the floor and thats how it happend. im 16 now and months ago i thought why me? dont we all but why not me, it was for a reason i believe this brought out the best in me to love myself and really take care of myself and body. Luckily my mom turned me organic a year ago and i have been taken organic vitamins D, B12, fishoil, vegtable supplements everything i can think of to help. Over the counter vitamins have many chemicals and 5% vitamin which is why i recomend to go to a natural store. I read here that scrubbing the P with a toothbrush , rinse then apply vasseline & i am proud to say that IT WORKS magically and i am so happy i am almost there i can finally see my skin and the redness turned to pink and is vanishing slowly ! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS SHARED THERE CURES IT WAS SO HELPFUL I AM CRYING WRITING THIS BECAUSE THE DOCTORS SAID THERE WAS NO CURE ID DIE WITH PSORIASIS! BUT NOW I HAVE HOPE AGAIN THAT I COULD BE A NORMAL TEEENAGER AND WEAR DRESSES AND SHORTS IN SUMMER! BLESS YOU ALL never stop trying never give up the fight !your frined-Amber<3
