sudden onset and I was covered head to toe--totally taken by surprise, as the body called out to me. I sarted reserching rashes in the deep of the night --when anxiety needed outlet and there was no way I could face emergency calls for help or handle a doctors interview in a cold room....I realsied it must be hives after much conisderation and now the docs and pharmacists needed to only confirm it to dole out the appropriate industry chemicals....I read that apparently 1 in 25 adults experience urticaria in their lifetime. That means 1 in 25 of us experience some level of extremity beyond the bounds of the body once in a lifetime-- this is when hives becomes the problem and then is at the same time the body's call for help, as the key solution to that problem. As histamnes are normally active in a good way when not actually turning into ongoing acutre or chronic hives. Apparently the cause, is most often not found. Anyway since the antihistamine medicine gave me an altered experience I did not wish to repeat I have taken only one tablet and have run the rollercoaster gamut of this wee ride my body is taking me on, hands free, like as in unsupported by mechanisms that reduce pain but block the process. Some people may like the altered experience but for me its too chemical and also it may be that not everyone would feel this from these tablets as its because I am a sensitive that I get these free side effects anyway.... I learned not to take pharma for this reason as a kid. But hey, people were advising me and I was turning into 'Elephant Woman' so I gave it a try. I now have a full pack bar 1 tablet of hayfever remedy anyone can have if they want. Anyways -- some of the time to distract myself I have been looking up stories about this thing urticaria... hives... (being diselxic I keep getting confused why am I reading about bees ( I do keep bees lol)..and found millions--of stories--online, many I didnt connect with but did feel and identify with the re-occuring theme : 'what is this? I dont know what triggers this, or what works, and help, and I am trying this and that and here is the result and so on.' That infomrs a lot oabout this thing hives-- the body is like saying : unknown unknown unknown quantity--- alert alert alert-- and body needsd help body needs help.... instead we mainly supress the call medicinally--One story I did connnect with--as relating to my personal case -- and that one I paste below... There must be a story for every 1 in 25 adults out there. My conclusion is if you follow your story, or the stories that enlighten your stories-- you can find the message your body is throwing at you. I have always done this anytime I have experienced an illness-- I think this is my healer nature, but as I had stepped out of that active way for a while now--dues to not being in best of health for a while... I'd forgotten, but am reminded of it--now, -- so... and I see that we each in a million stories may find one or three stories that help US. Some clear descriptions of actual characteristics of our disease can also help us....stories can enlighten and bring us close to the remedy and cear descriptions can elucidate for us what need the body is expressing ---I learned there are different types of urticaria and I had to google a lot to find that. I discovered by that that mine is ---physical hives -- and this made me reflect ... and then understand my story better...After a while things began to piece together... and there is a personal depth to ones own story that one can find, one's personal key out.... and with that -- the whole thing began to lighten, and the body started to allow healing to occur....the story is deep for each, so I wont go into mine here, but here is one story I found online-- where WATER WATER WATER :) as a remedy is confirmed-- and a story that I connected with directly, as if I was there, or was her in the reading of it, when reading, by Liz. ( Thanks Liz, and Hugs)

My journey with hives was painful both physically and mentally. I went to bed one night last April feeling itchy all over and I woke up the next morning with hives covering my body from my neck to my toes. At the time I was going through an extremely stressful and unpleasant move. I had no idea my stress could manifest itself into something so crazy so I had to believe I was allergic to something. I took everything and anything I could buy over the counter - nothing worked. I used every cream I could get my hands on - nothing worked for more than 5 minutes. I went to the ER several times leaving with steroids or anti anxiety med or an allergy medication of some sort. Every time the script ran out, the hives were back and worse than ever. I was literally on the edge all the time, I cried every night before going to sleep. I'd wake up in such pain due to swelling, I was at the end of my rope. This was still going on after even after my stress had faded. This was now the only stress in my life. And it was killing my spirit. I felt out of control. One day I read an article online that suggested drinking 60-80 oz of water per day would help relieve the hives. For a week I downed 80 oz per day religiously. The first night, maybe a gallon. I would try anything at that point. The next morning, my skin was clear. I have been doing this since august. If I drink at least a 20oz bottle of water, it keeps them away. If I am dehydrated (sometimes I work long shifts as a server and don't have time to stop) I'll find myself getting itchy. I drink a bottle of water and it goes away. I'm not claiming to have the cure but I'm telling you what helped me if it helps anyone else. Because my life for those months was absolute hell. I thought I was going to be tortured for the rest of my life. And I have my life back. Just give it a try. You have nothing to lose... but your hives.

Malee

Hello Hivers,

It's Malee again. I thought in December I was all set with my Hives. Nope today January 10th I sit in my bed letting you know after being weaned off of Prednisone down to 4mg a day and taking Xoliar injections once a month, I still have Hives. Now wait! There nothing like before. As we speak, I have about 5 hives on my body, mostly legs and feet. I'm starting to believe my hives are due to stress and bad eating. If not I certainly have some kind of autoimmune disease brewing. The person who wrote about dehydrator: your right! it is well know in the health community that one of the most significant ways our bodies respond to lack of water is hives. Secondly stress is a killer. The human body hates emotional stress. When we become frazzled over periods of time i.e.: divorce, job losses, moves and just bull in our lives our bodies react in the best way it knows how. I know for sure that everyone on this site loves themselves, we're all looking for a cure not treatment! I find the more I respect my body by eating right, exercise, fluids and relax the better I feel and the less hive I have. This may not be the cure, but it is definitely the step in the right direction. I'm still seeing a Homeopathic, I will give results as soon as I have them.

I've had chronic urticaria for 2 months now, and initially when it first started back in September it was terrible I was covered from head to toe in itchy welts and my eyes and arms swelled up with severe joint pains. I was taking up to 3 fexofenadine 180mg a day and then I was on a course of steroids for 5 days which helped for one day and then made the hives worse! Eventually I put myself on a strict diet eliminating all junk and fat foods along with drinking plenty of water everyday plus carrying on with my fexofenadine, and it all eventually cleared up. Now I suspect this was not from any allergies as nothing had changed, but I was increasingly stressed as I am a recent graduate looking for my dream job, of which these hives have made it very difficult for me to chase that. Now I still get a couple of hives on my feet and on my leg but they are not itchy and my body still gets very hot at night, and this bothers me a lot! I am struggling to find a cause to my hives, I went to see an immunologist who was useless and guessed it was pressure and heat urticaria and prescribed me Montelukast and loretadine which worked wonders for the first 2 days I was clear! But then a couple of hives would creep back after so I'm going to call my doctor tomorrow to see what alternative there could be, but doctors don't seem to worry about this condition because it is 'so common' but I and many other people I know have become extremely depressed from hives.

I'm thinking my hives are what some may call 'healing hives' as I only get a few, but I am wondering if anyone knows any effective remedies for hives like this or is in a similar position? Any insight would be incredibly helpful!

I really wish everyone the best of luck in getting rid of these evil things it has honestly turned my life upside down in a very quick space of time, we can only hope for the best. x

Malee

Hello Hive suffering folks. I have been breaking out in Hives since Feb 12,2014, and today I sit in my bed covered from head to toe with hives. I have tried EVERY DAM THING! I'm currently on zyrtec 3x's daily, Zantac 150mg 2x's a day, Singular 10 mg 1x's a day and now my asthma is acting up so add in flow vent 4x's daily, albuterol as needed and nebulizer treatments if needed. I have been on prednisone since march (med dose packs every month). I have been very frustrated the last few days. I have had several visits to the ER only to be given more Prednisone. WTF! Now my Allergy specialist wants to try XOLAIR®(omalizumab)injections once a month. they say Hive this lone is due to an auto immune disease soooooo, I have seen my GI specialist because I have Ulcerative Colitis (all clear, nothing there). I have appointmentsXOLAIR® (omalizumab) with my OB/GYN because I have and IUD and that could be it (not likely). Also I have scheduled and appointment with and Endocrinologist, (hope she can help). I have been tested for food allergies, various cancers, all my organs tested and so on and so on. I have read everyone's comments to see if some one has found the answer. NOPE! NOT ONE OF US. I live in Connecticut and my next move is to go to YALE to have a Hematologist, Endocrinologist and Allergist work on me and search the cause. My body is responding to something. I'm determine to find out what! I will keep you all posted on my finds. I will also seek the help of a Homeopathic/ Natural path M.D.

July 15,2014
I need to lose weight so in quick haste I purchased Xenadrine 7x to try and jump start my weight loss. Within two days there was a slight rash on forehead and nose. I had worked in yard and thought maybe it was slight case of poison ivy, but wasn't itchy. I applied some Fluoconicide i had in cabinet and it went away, but then I started noticing smaller rash welts on my wrists, again thinking it was poison ivy showing up days later and thinking that was odd.
19th- I started the double dosing as per instruction on Xenadrine bottle.
20th- Shoulder started to itch that night and finally realized maybe the spots were reaction to pills so I stopped taking them and did some research.
Online search told me that three of the products were the culprit and produce rash or hives in some people: Yohimbe bark, Horse mint leaf extract and Frauenmantle leaf extract.

I immediately started drinking as much water as i could, stopped eating wheat and drinking milk in case these were extra issues with the reactions. Started taking Vit.C, and multivitamin.
Purchased Fexofenadine hydrochloride 180mg- itch only mildly helped and this started to give me intense migraines so discontinued after 4 days.
Zantac 150 mg, Hyland ‘hives’, and Oxyhives by Pacific Naturals. These helped minimally.
31st- Purchased Ibuprofen and within 20 min noticed a different spotted rash on inner left arm. I panicked and made myself throw up in hopes of stopping it from spreading. Now i know i must be allergic to ibuprofen.
Skin: I used Technu rash releif (purchased form food lion) and Sunburn aloe gel with Lidocaine. Both of these worked pretty well compared to the 1% Hydrocortizone cream.
Aug. 9th- itching FINALLY stops.

A bit about me. I have had hives twice before this but they were stress related. I know online they say that stress isn’t really a cause for hives, but i beg to differ. I broke out in hives once from stess in first marriage, (small area on hip). And again when driving to meet up with relative i was having issues with, those showed up on my both my arms and i scratched so heavily in that 3 hr visit that i still have scars from it. Also…..bad timing but my mom came to stay with me for a week just as they were beginning and then by the 12th i was to meet my mother-n-law for the first time since marrying my husband 9yrs ago.(she was from another country)…..so could of been the build up stress of that too.
Funny part is I’m not allergic to anything before…...the only thing I’ve ever had a reaction to was Cream of mushroom soup. Love that stuff and never realized that every time i ate it and had tightening of chest and throat. But yet i can eat regular mushrooms with no issues.

Side note: Im eating healthier, which i needed to do anyways. And my mother-n-law is a sweetheart whom i adore and is an amazing cook. Im adding other things to my vitamin regimen is
Cats claw, and barley(hulled). Look these two things up,….amazing stuff.

To those of you going through years of this unbearable lifestyle…I’m so sorry for you. God bless and heal each of you. Thanks to all of you who wrote your experiences and Hope mine helps too.

my daughter recently had hives and I didn't want to go the doctor., for sure they will just give calamine lotion and anti-histamine for temporary relief. I came across this website and followed the baking soda paste and rubbed garlic and in just a few minutes the hives began to fade away. no more hives! thank god for natural medicine.

I’ve been dealing with hives since 2001. I get it really bad with angiodema too. Doctors and specialist have no clue and I’ve taken matters into my own hands. I’ve experimented for years and this is the first time I have gotten it under control quickly. I drink apple cider vinegar 4tx a day 2teaspoons in 4oz. Of water. I drink 1packet of Emergen-C with a teaspoon of Organic Sulfur Crystal. Drink plenty of Water. No process foods, no Sugar, No dairy, No wheat! And always use acidophilus and digestive Enzymes. If you know you break out in hives from Anxiety as many people do, drink 2 cups of Lemon Balm tea a day. Morning and night. This has helped me tremendously. I’ve been on steroids for over 10yrs and No one Doctor has ever given me relief. I’ve been on every single histamine medication on the market even asthma medications, anxiety medications, depression medications, immunosuppressants, etc. nothing has helped me until I started going Alternative meds and healing. I also meditate twice a day. Try it anything is better than Steroids and Hives!!!!! Hope it helps. Read up on every remedy I've suggested and see how beneficial each one of them are to your overall health. After taking so many meds and having your body undergo so much stress from the hives, your gonna need to reverse the side effects all the toxins the body has accumulated. If you can check out the documentary Fat, sick and nearly dead, he also had hives and he takes you on his journey towards optimal health. Blessings to everyone of you and may you all find a Cure to what’s causing your ailments.
