Try Rolaids. I chew them instead of letting them dissolve in my mouth. Works great.
Have someone stand behind you and press your ears shut while you drink a 12 oz glass of water. Always works for me.
An older nurse taught me this hiccough relief method 40 years ago and as a nurse myself for the past 40 years I have never had this method fail. Hiccoughs will often return because there are medical reasons that people have hiccoughs, but this method does give immediate relief. I call it Roman's Remedy.
When a person is hiccoughing have them drink water through a straw while holding pressue with their fingers on the middle portion of both ears. Fingers should be placed on the face and pressed firmly inward on the protion of the ear that protrudes directly from the face into the middle of the ear.
A teaspoon of honey
A nurse taught me to use the accupressure point between the thumb and index finger to stop the spasms that cause hiccups. You have to put pressure on the nerve--you will feel a definite twinge when you hit it. (Aim back toward the hand itself, not just the loose skin area.) Once you've hit the nerve, just hold for about ten seconds.
To get rid of hiccups: Take a slice of lemon and pour bitters all over it and then suck all of the juice out of it. DO NOT EAT THE LEMON FIRST!!! I work in a bar and it has worked on ALL of my customers.
Pour a dime size amount of salt in your palm and then just lick it off. It works immediately!!
TAKE A TEASPOON OF SUGAR ,SUCK ON IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND THAN DRINK A GLASS OF WATER -INSTANT RELIEF
This remedy is for the hiccups. It never fails! Simply get a glass of water and take 9 medium swallows one after the other. Hiccups are gone like magic!
1. Swallow 1 tsp. white table sugar, dry. A study found that this stopped hiccups immediately in 19 out of 20 people.
2. Gulp down a glass of water if the sugar doesn't work.
3. Eat a piece of dry bread slowly.
