15 Comments for the Plantar Warts Home Remedy

Jean (PA)

Don't listen to anyone who says to treat plantar warts at home. Trust me. I dealt with one for over six weeks. It was excruciating - like scissors stuck in the bottom of my foot. I tried some of these 'home' remedies, but to no avail. I am trooper; I can handle pain. But this was ridiculous. I couldn't walk, let alone do my daily runs. Finally, I went to the doctor. One needle later, he removed the wart, and I was pain free. Of course, the cut had to heal, but two days of that healing vs. all the trouble and pain of trying to get rid of the wart on my own was completely worth it. I don't know who the hell these people are with the home remedies, but they are simply no match to the quick and efficient podiatrist who made me whole again! So beware Internet fools - home remedies when it comes to plantar warts means days and weeks of needless pain. Go to the doctor!

I really doubt there would be so many years of dialog here if it was as simple as you say. I hope for you that your doctor successfully removed the wart, but from experience I can tell you only time will tell whether you are rid of the virus. On several occasions I came home from the doctor (first a dermatologist, then a podiatrist) thinking all was resolved, when in fact weeks later I was worse off than before. As with all these remedies, they may work for some, but they are unlikely to work for all.

As opposed to the other dialogue you mention, I never said it was simple. I am aware of the 'virus' aspect. No matter the method of removing the wart, there is always the chance that a virus will return. Actually, regarding the other dialogue on this site, I was equally surprised that so many advocated so many home remedies. I only wished they had worked for me. As with anything else, everyone is different, etc. However, professionals are just that - professionals!

I think that modern medicine has its place as home remedies have theirs. You have to remember that not all modern medicine/home remedies work for everyone JEAN! Plus Doctors are expensive as you now know from having one charge you an astronomical fee for cutting your tiny wart off with a scalpel. Not everyone can afford what you paid. I think it is important that people want to help others and share their successes even if it doesn’t work for you. And apparently you are an internet fool because you said yourself you tried the remedy. A simple (it didn’t work for me), would have sufficed. By the way, ACV (apple cider vinegar) also helps me with heartburn. It works instantly.

Ok honestly..if these remedies have worked for people then good for them....you really have no right saying it doesnt help....maybe it didnt help you but that doesnt mean it wont help someone else.....Ive have planter warts basicaly my whole life and im 19...i went to the doctors for two year and had them freeze and scrap it but it didnt work and i also had my warts cut out bc i was sick of it and they grew back...warts are a virus they either leave or stick with you..ive been doing home remeides and they haev been working for me..duct tape seems to help also...so i hope that your warts dont grow back like mine did.

Thank you jean I was just about to be one of those internet fools looking up for my daughter a cure for the warts on her feet. She has got 10 of those warts on her feet. She can't afford to go to the doctor. I don't know what for her to do. I'm on a limited income her husbands hours has been cut at work. It's all up in the air. thank you

I started out a couple months ago with a wart. It didn't even hurt, but since I didn't know what it was I saw a podiatrist. She applied acid. It didn't work. So then she cut it out. The wart grew back within 2 days, leaving me in excruciating pain. I saw a different podiatrist who did the same as the first. So why am I the fool after seeing a 2 different specialists and barely able to even walk because of the pain (And I am extremely tolerant of pain.) searching for a home remedy that might (or might not) work? You shouldn't point the finger at everyone else because there are 4 fingers pointing back at you.

plus doctors are expensive. I have insurance but still the co-pay is through the roof.

Which remedies did you used that hurt so badly? I am about to start experimenting with some of the ones I have found online....

I have had a plantar wart for over 20 years. I have had it frozen, burned, cut out, injections, you name it by doctors. It has always returned. I am going to try some of these home remedies. It can't hurt any more than what I have been through and the money I have spent trying to get rid of this aggravating thing. One thing my doctor did tell me to try is Retin A on the wart and tightly wrap with duct tape so no air can get to the wart.

Wow JEAN...kinda odd it works for so many...maybe your different and your situation was something that needed more attention than a plantar wart! Don't be angry you had to spend $$$$$ for a 'professional' to solve your issue...Im sure it'll return, hope you leave a comment than too.
