Just looking over remedies for the croup as my baby has it for the first time. However, my mother has had nine children and always used (on myself as well) a COOL MIST humidifier, not warm mist. They aren't always easy to find. One of my sisters actually had a very advanced case of croup and the excess warm mist that my mother subjected her to sent her to the emergency room with a closed wind pipe due to the swelling. If it really is croup, do cool mist, not warm. I started the cool mist humidifier treatment on my baby this morning (8 mos.) and tonight he is noticeably better.
