Getting rid of fleas is a two step process: vacuuming and spraying. Use a fresh vacuum bag so that air flow will not be restricted by debris collected by earlier vacuuming. Fill a small home & garden sprayer with 1 gallon vinegar, ½ gallon water, 16 oz lemon juice and 8 oz of witch hazel. After vacuuming, spray vinegar mixture using a heavy spray (not a stream however). Spray carpets, sofas, chairs, human and pet bedding, window sills, and bare floors. If you have a bad infestation, repeat every 12 hours for two days. When fleas are barely noticeably, repeat every 3 days. After fleas are gone, repeat once every week until flea season is over. We have 15 cats (8 of which are indoor only). We needed to find a solution that was not expensive and not toxic – We have used this method for two years with excellent results. If you start treatment at beginning of flea season, you will probably not need to do this more than once a week for the whole season.

I really hope this works. I've tried shampoos and fles collars but my poor Sirci hasn't had any relief. I feel so bad for my little baby. She's licked and ripped a small area of fur off trying to get at the bugs. Due to the fast life cycle of the flea I believe that they have become immune to the shampoos that used to work so well for me!

I'm going to try this, we are at our wits end, have tried every remedy known to man and can't seem to get rid of the fleas. Frontline, Spot-On, flea bombs, flea combs, tea tree, flea shampoo, flea powder, Lyclear, flea sprays, vacuuming, boil washing (the bedding, not the dogs!!) My next step will be Rentokil if this doesn't work!

pam

do not use vinegar on cats it is very harmful to them

No worries..a 'home and garden sprayer' is just a spray bottle. I have one (spray bottle that happens to say 'home and garden sprayer') from walmart (it holds 32oz). So, any spray bottle will work. I made 1/4th of the mix and will break it down for people using measuring cups:

4cups vinegar,
2cups water,
1/2 cup lemon juice,
1/4 cup with hazel.

I can't wait to try this. I live on South beach and other tenants feed all of the stray cats. There is such an abundance of fleas!!!! I have fogged the place, put everything in trash bags, washed, vacuumed sprayed etc!!! I can't get rid of them!!!! They keep biting me too! I don't really have any ideas. I didn't want to spray the pesticide everyday! :( So, I am really hoping this works!!! Thanks

You selfish assholes can comment 'I'm going to try this' but can't come back telling everyone else if it works or not.

Die.
