Yeah where does the garlic go?

betty

Well, that would certainly take care of the fish smell! Anchovie pizza, anyone?

I don't know about that... I have seen what garlic can do to the skin...

Not a sissy

Garlic actually does help. You insert it like a tampon. Don;t leave it in for more than a few hours, then just remove it with clean fingers. The smell is not nearly as bad as the smell of an infection! Peel the clove first, obviously.

Wow! She shares a way to maybe help others get rid of a UTI and there has to be at least 1 person who has nothing better to do than criticize & call names like a child. GET A LIFE!! La chula, thanks for the info. UTI's are the worst! I don't care what I have to stick in there to get rid of it!

You can't blame your doc if you don't use the right words to explain what's bothering you...right?

Your urethra and your vagina are two different things. One leads to your bladder and the other leads to your uterus.

UTI stands for Urinary Tract Infection. Hope no one has tried to put anything into her urethra (where urine comes out). Yikes!

Sounds like she was trying to treat a possible Yeast Infection with her garlic clove. Also sounds like garlic can damage mucous membranes.

Check with a doc before sticking food into non-food orifices.

All this said, I do feel your pain.

This treatment is effective for a yeast infection, not a UTI. Cranberry pills, Uva Ursi, and lots of water are good to cure a UTI. To prevent them, urinate IMMEDIATELY after having intercourse. I know a nap after sex is a wonderful thing - but seriously, get up and head straight for the bathroom instead. It flushes the bacteria out right away.

Garlic has natural anti-fungal properties, thus a carefully peeled clove up the vagina, preferably wrapped in cheesecloth to protect the skin, can be effective against a yeast infection.
