Place a small amount of boric acid in 2 cups of boiling water. Let it cool and use the solution with eyecups to wash the eyes for quick relief and also to clean the eyes.

I have used boric acid eye wash for 30 years and it is wonderful for allergy eyes. It works when prescription remedies do not.

The ratio for using boric acid is 1 tsp to 1 pint of water (after boiling). Great for goopy pet eyes, pink eye or whatever you want to call it. Drop in several times a day or as needed.

I am so happy to find this information on boracic acid - we always had it in the medicine cabinet while growing up and my mother used it for eyes. I am having a problem and went to a drug store tonite to ask where to find it. He had a stange attitude I thought: 'Well we don't sell it here'. When I asked about it he didn't think it was a good idea to use in the eyes. Also wasn't helpful about where I might find it. I typed it in Google and found very little information there - got this site from a friend on net. Thank you for the instructions on how to use it - now just hope I can find some tomorrow.

My Doctor advised a solution of the diluted boric acid for chronic swimmer's ear. Add 1 tblsp white vinegar and a bloop of Vodka (natural grain alcohol) to the diluted and disolved boric acid.

I have always used the eye mixture on my children and it clears up eye infections in less than a day.

Dry boric acid kills bugs, not because it is poisonous but because it is a crystalized acid that litterally slices their insides up, similar to if we were to eat crushed glass.
the boric acid in eye drops is usually a 1.5% solution and very effective for conjunctivitis, stys, and eye infections, human or for animals. 1 teaspoon added to 2 quarts sterilized boiling water makes a 1.5% solution.
For eye wash, you may also make normal saline solution with 1 cup boiled, sterilized water and 1/4 teaspoon table salt. Sterilize your glass container by turning it upside down in a small amount of boiling water and boil for 5 minutes. Sterilize the lids to the container in the same way.

In order for this to be accurate we need to define 'small amount' of boric acid per water.

Boric Acid eye wash solution- 1 teaspoon boric acid stirred into 2 cups of boiling water, keep it in a sterile container...its used to clean babies eyes, animals eyes, used for cleaning nipples that are irritated from breast feeding, and for pink eye (conjunctivitis) For pink eye, change your pillow case, wash hands and face and use sterile cotton balls in a dixie cup saturated with boric acid solution...squeeze the solution into the eye with a cottonball then wipe the eye with it and throw away, use as often as needed...also, if skin gets too dry or lashes are too dry from using the eye wash, either a little castor oil or petroleum jelly swiped acrossed the lashes will help, a cold washcloth held against the infected eye is also helpful for itching or pain, be sure to keep hands washed as it is contageous...wash your pillow case every day and use a fresh washcloth to keep from reinfecting your eye or keep it from spreading to your other eye.
