When I was a teenager my neighbor (who was a doctor in Russia) dropped VODKA into my ear- it burned a bit at first, but the ache was gone after a week of pain... I'll never forget that!

K....I was coming down with an ear infection the night before easter sunday.
I woke up on easter and knew exactly what was happening as I was clogged and there was pain jetting down my neck and into my head. Seeing that there were no walk in clinic's open cause it was easter sunday and lord knows nobody wants to sit in a hospital for 8 to 10 hours in Toronto just to get what you know you need, I headed online to see if I could bide some time.
Turns out I had a full 40 of Vodka in my fridge and all sites were pointing to that route. I researched it a bit more as one wouldn't usually dump vodka in their ear and I decided to give it a try.
The next morning I was still a bit blocked however all pain was gone and it's all good so far. Vodka worked!!!
At first I poured a tea spoon which half dribbled down my face, then I dipped a cotton ball in it and dripped some drops in my ear and just stuffed the vodka soaked ball in my ear for like an hour.

If you're in a fix like I was then I recommend it cause it worked!

Thanks Polar Ice!

Just prior to finding this site I was debating the emergency room or calling the Dr. who told me last week that he didn't see anything in my ear. knowing that my ear pain would qualify me for several hours in the ER I decided to take a shot of vodka, as I poured I actually considered if I should try it in my ear. I don't know if it is the ingestion of the shot or the drops applied to the canal, I feel better. I am hoping to sleep through the night and not have any ill effects prior to the iprn of the Dr. office in the morn. Thanks. Good advice.

I just tried this with cheap vodka and it's not a cure, but the pain has lessened over the last couple minutes.
I still feel the pressure, but I might actually sleep tonight. I'll put more in when I wake up and hope it gets better...and that no one sniffs my ear.

My five year old son was crying non-stop and unable to sleep. I tried it and he went to sleep within 1 minute. I'll let you know if it was the Vodka that did the trick or if he just wore himself out. Thanks

I've had several ear infections in my life and always treated them with antibiotics. I know now exactly how it feels and when one is developing.

I started getting an ear infection on a Saturday. On Wednesday I cleared out some ear wax from the ear with an over the counter peroxide based wax cleaner.

That may have helped some. I also followed up the wax removal with a water jet into the ear with a rubber bulb designed for that purpose. Because the wax buildup itself is a cause of the infection with it trapping water and giving bacteria and fungus a place to thrive. So it's important to clear our wax, even after an infection is healed, to prevent recurrence.

Anyway, by Thursday it was clear this infection was going to grow. I even felt very sluggish at my workout at the gym on Thursday.

So on Thursday late night, reading through here, I tried the urin in the ear remedy (you can find that remedy here) and that seemed to stop the infection, bring some relief and for sure there was no more shooting pain.

Then the next morning, I mixed 50/50 Vodka with Vinegar (since I had that in the pantry) and left the mixture in the ear for about 5 minutes.

Now about 24 hours later, the ear is as good as new. That's my story. Faster, cheaper and safer than antibiotics.

Don't wait folks, as soon as you start feeling discomfort, use this mix. Then get the wax out.
