10 Comments for the Teeth Whitening Home Remedy

The secret to this inexpensive home whitening method is malic acid, which acts as an astringent to remove surface discoloration. Combined with baking soda, strawberries become a natural tooth-cleanser, buffing away stains from wine, coffee, and dark sodas. While it’s no replacement for a bleaching treatment at your dentist’s office, “this is a fast, cheap way to brighten your smile,” says Adina Carrel, DMD, a dentist in private practice at Manhattan Dental Arts in New York. “Be careful not to use this too often, though, as the acid could damage the enamel on your teeth.”

Make Over Your Smile
You need:
1 ripe strawberry
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Directions: Crush the strawberry to a pulp, then mix with the baking soda until blended. Use a soft toothbrush to spread the mixture onto your teeth. Leave on for 5 minutes, then brush thoroughly with toothpaste to remove the berry–baking soda mix. Rinse. (A little floss will help get rid of any strawberry seeds.) You can apply once a week.

I heard that the acid in the strawberries could damage your teeth by making them weak. Be careful to not over do it.

my teeth have never felt cleaner for sure..

this works so good! im never mixing peroxide ab baking soda together again bacause this works better and taste better too you can see major results within a few minuits of brushing the only bad thing is its hard to get strawberrs seeds out of your tooth brush

why dont you peel/cut the seeds off so you dont get the seeds suck n you tooth brush

I just tried it and it does taste pretty good. Not the best results, but it didn't make them any worse!

I just tried this and WOW it works wonderfully! Instead of applying it with a toothbrush and leaving it for 5 minutes, I applied with a makeup pad and gently rubbed in a circular motion. I did it twice, brushing with toothpaste between applications. I concure that it should not be overdone; the mixture left the inside of my lips slightly swollen.

The whole purpose of this is to make it taste good. the only thing that the strawberry does it give it flavor. you can do it without the strawberry and it will do the same thing

Im allergic to strawberries so I tried adding a lemon, worked GREAT!

Well i used baking powder nd it worked quite well

At first, when I made this mixture, I was a little hesitant to actually put it in my mouth! The smushed strawberry created a rather, unpleasant, apperance (all brownish and mushy!) but once I tried it, it tasted pretty good! I had to remind myself that it was a STRAWBERRY! The strawberry helped cover the taste of baking soda and made it more bearable. So don't let the look fool you: it tastes good, so don't let it stop you from trying it!
