I tried the suggested borax cure, and my bichon isn't reacting well. Perhaps his skin is just too sensitive. I did a little more research and found this great natural remedy that's inexpensive and sounds like it's a miracle cure for every type of pest problem--it's cedar based. Lots of good article on the site about why mites are getting worse, why you shouldn't use frontline or advantage, etc. I haven't tried this remedy yet, but the articles and testimonials sound great. And whereas borax can be toxic, this remedy isn't. I'm ordering this for myself today!

I have a 11 year old lab and a one year old cat that have both recently come down with mange, I think. We believe it came from my mother in laws dog but we're not sure. I spoke with a friend who is an animal trainer for over 30 years and he told me to use burnt or used motor oil, never new oil, on the dog and the borax/peroxide on the cat. I'm just starting this process but I'll let you know how it goes. I have to say, I was concerned about the motor oil so I checked with another trainer who agreed with the first guy so it must work.

Sounds like a plug for the cedarside site to me. I have been to the site but have not actually read anyone who has actually used it. I sell a mange book and list many ways to get rid of mites, fleas and ticks and would love to find a lot of people who have actually tried it but so far none have?
here is one of my sites that cover mites and mange. mites.biz
