BEGINNING THE PROCESS OF REMOVING TOENAIL FUNGUS USING STORE-BOUGHT ITEMS. This is the e-journal of Jake Nugent.

For over ten years, I've been suffering from Toenail Fungus (Onychomycosis) and it kills me. This fungus as greatly affected my life. I live in beautiful sunny San Diego where shoes are optionl and it's been torture not being able to wear sandals, taking off your socks at your friends house, not going to the beach with friends or going swimming. It's uncomfortable both physically and mentally. I'm trying everything I've learned on this website.

Its starts off with a trip to Walmart. I purchased $30 worth of stuff. White vinegar, yellow listerine, hydrogen-peroxide, Vicks Vapo Rub, Tea Tree Oil, bandaids, cotton balls and a rubbermaid container to put soak my feet.

Step 1. I have soaked my feet in the vinegar for over 30mins now and will clean w/ the peroxide, then cover with Vicks. I'll keep you posted of my results.

Jake, how is the treatment going? I have had these funky toes for such a long time I didnt even know there was a treatment for it. I thank you all for educating us. I am going to start this right away. I am so happy and hopefull that I too may be able to wear sandals. I live in florida and most people do wear sandals year round. I am excited! Thank you, thank you. Please keep me posted on your progress, and I will do the same. I am going to start the, bleach, listerine, vicks for now.

Thanks for being here, folks. :)

I tried this last night...I got avatar feet after the soak (blue Listerine).

Don't ever get a pedicure - that's how I got the fungus. My pretty toenails, I miss you all.

I have high hopes that this will cure my nails - 1 doctor said to take lamisil but the fungus would come back if I stopped the pill and it sure did come back; the other doctor said my toenails aren't bad. Yeah, he's not the one with yellow thick toenails.

I to have been suffering for 10 years of this evil nail fungus. I tired the vicks vapor rub didn't work. I'm going to try this soak and vapor rub crossing my fingers it works.

Are there any updates to be given?? I've had fungus for years now and have also chosen not go the way of the pill....I'd rather live with ugly toes as opposed to organ damage. Having said that I'd really like to try and rid this some other way.....Jake, your treatment does sound time consuming, I know I'm not disciplined enough for the routine either....but I'm still curious if it's continued to work for you. This is now June, months after your last posting, has your regimen worked or not?

This is all too labor-intensive, leading to slacking off.

I used Tea Tree Oil alone, twice a day, and it seemed to kill the fungus right away, but it took about a month for it to grow out and the new nail to come in. You could see the progress as the think part moved out and the thin nail came in. It only takes 10-15 minutes, no equipment. I put it on by dipping a small stick (a crochet hook, actually) in the oil, and touching the toenail, so the drop goes where you touch.

It's important to keep doing it, although once a day is probably enough after 2-3 weeks, because it will re-infect until all the old, thick stuff had grown out and gone.

You can get Tea Tree Oil at any drug store, and some grocery stores, & it's quite cheap. Health food stores, like GNC, have more choices. Get 100% TTO. It has a really strong smell. Check it out on Wikipedia.org

Hey readers,

It's Jake. I've been slacking big time. When I was treating my toes with all of this intense regimen, it worked, but very gradually.

I've completely stopped. I'm sorry to let you down if you've been following. Ultimately I don't know if these procedures work.

Looks like i'll never get rid of this fungus unless I cut off my toes all together.

I've found with using topical treatments soaked in a cottonball, that a finger cot rolled over top, keeps the treatment in place comfortably. Works the same as the balloon usage or taping or using a bandaid, but perhaps more easily applied.
