Ingrown toe nails are caused by eating too much sugar. Usually it's young kids that get ingrown toenails. I've seen this many times. A young person is board, say on a summer vacation. They sit at home eating sweet stuff and stressed out. After some days of living this way the cuticle around the big toe becomes inflamed (soft and red). The cuticle should be a strong tuff skin that borders the toenail. Sugar makes cuticle weak and prone to become inflamed. Many people have had red swollen cuticles that return to normal in a few days when the owner of the toe stops eating so much sugar and finds something to do with their time to get out of the bad mood or stressful situations. If the toenail becomes ingrown because of clipping the nail down too short at the cuticle then let it grow out. While it's growing out keep it medicated with neosporin every night and put a good elastic material type band-aid on it to keep it clean from infection. Once it becomes ingrown it can take two or three months to grown out above the end of cuticle. Young people will servive this. Elderly should see a doctor for possible root removal.

this is not completely true because I am a kid and i had two ingrown toenails. I was not eating to much sugar or was in a stress full situation, it just got steped on. And not all kids will get over it because i didn'T get it taken care of right away and i ended up have to go and get both toenails completely removed and my big toes. This was also after sufuring after sufering for a very long time.

This business of getting an ingrown toenail becuase of sugar is ridiculous. I personally don't have one, but I know of 5 people related and non-related to have one or two and it was all due to a heavy object falling right on the toe. As a result from the impact the nail is bruised, blood is harbored which is like a blood clot. From the swollening and the blood, the nail ends up like rottening and as the new one grows it ends up being ingrown. I've been eating SUGAR ALL MY LIFE and never have had an ingrown nail.

Lol. What an idiot. Eating sugar has nothing to do with ingrown toenails. Are you referring to a diabetic who has foot issues? Still has nothing to do with sugar. I certainly hope no one took your advise.

???

sugar.....???? NO!!!! TRY SHOES THAT DON'T FIT PROPERLY!!!!!
