I was diagnosed with psoriasis when I was 18, and I am now 35. I have tried every possible over the counter and prescription medications, including toxic meds to lower my immune system. Sure some of them did actually work while I was on them, however, most medications can only be taken short term and once discontinued the psoriasis came back worse than what it started as. Persistent to find some solution to this uncomfortable problem I have tried every remedy available and have found one that works for me and anyone I have passed it on to.
Here goes:

Soft water softner. Here is the best part, it only costs 3.95 at Wal-Mart.

Since I cannot afford to have a system put into my house, I used my creative ingenuity and made my own. (I did try just putting it in a bath and soaking for 20 minutes a day, way too time consuming) so here is what I did....

1. I bought a small laundry bag ( the ones you wash your fine washables in the washer)

2. Put approx. 2-3 cups of the softener pellets in the bag, do not zipper bag. You are going to use the opening of the bag to put the bag over your shower head.

3. You need to find something elastic to attatch the bag to your shower head. I used a thin scrunchie hair band. It held the bag in place for the water to run through the pellets and then on me. Shower as you normally would. You do not need to rinse this off with regular water.

Note: When you first start this it may burn if you have open lesions, keep with it, and that will stop within a few days. And your lesions will heal.

I did this twice a day for one month, and within one week, the itching was nearly gone, within 2 weeks the plaques were broken up into dots, the continuing weeks the dots became smaller and smaller until they were gone. Now I shower with it once a day, just for precaution.

If you are on prescription medicines, do not just quit taking them. Try this with your medications, and then talk to your doctor about discontinuing your medications.

I will honestly tell you I have no idea why this works, but it does. By no means am I saying this is a cure, as I on occassion have outbreaks when I eat my trigger foods. However, I resume to showering twice a day and stay away from the food that brought it about again.

If you are sick of this disease, and your bank account drained because of expensive treatments. Try it, what do you have to lose. About $5 and a 25 minutes a day for a month.

I also have experienced water softner when we stayed at a place that had it in the water. It really helped by psoriasis, but I couldn't afford to put in a system. I'm so glad I read about how you did it. I'm going to try it.

How many times should you shower in the beginning stage of this process? How often do you change the 2-3 cups of softner?

seems logical. i grew up on a farm with a water softener, moved into town, a year later, psoriasis showed up. It is in the family and I do have alot of bad habits, so mine is pretty noticable. Why not i'm game. Thanks

Matt.

What is the Softener pellets, please.
