42 Comments for the Welders Flash Home Remedy

I have 30 welders that work for me and anytime any of them have had welders flash this has proven to work in every case.
Put slices of Potato over your eyes, lay back and relax. Burning & pain should be gone or reduced to a tollerable level dependening on the severity. You can repeat as often as you like until all of the buring & scratching pain is completely gone.

Thank you for having this site for me to read and have a remedy for my roomy's welder flash yesterday. When he complained what he was having and what he thought it was, I looked online quickly for remedies and I cut up potato slices. He then was able to fall asleep and slept through the night. After reading reports on this site I was prepared to cut more every two hours so I didn't sleep much because I wanted to be alert if he needed me to help him.

Thank you again for your home remedy of potato slices because it worked.

Poor cool milk in ur eyes while in the shower work instantly every time

vicks is the way to go just did it for the first time (currently doing it) instant relief

I've put down miles of weld in my career, and I've learned to use homeopathic remedies in the interim for all sorts of acute problems and I've gotten magical success from taking a homeopathic dose of EUPHRASIA in the 30c potency whenever I felt a welding flash coming on. the attack would come in the middle of the night but the eyes would "smart" in the evening so I knew an attack was coming.

Not only would I abort the attack, my eyes felt absolutely refreshed on waking.

I can't say that I've used the remedy DURING an attack, but I would again use this remedy maybe up to 3 doses in the first hour if necessary and stop repetition when significant improvement occurs.

Good Luck! Homeopathic medicine is the people's medicine. its 200 years old and Big Pharma doesn't want you to know about it. Once you see its effectiveness work here, you might be inclined to learn more about it.

The torine (or however it's spelled) in the tea would logically help with the pain, but I think I'm going to go with a combination of the Vick's and the potatoes.

Potatoe Peelings, really, this is a total myth, been there done that, all you are getting is the cold sensation like a cold rag to relieve the pain. When you get a flash, if you can imagine it creates small little blisters on your eye, therefore Everytime you open and close your eyes it feels like sand. If you are one that can keep your eyes not open for a very long time, good for you. Because Everytime you blink that sensation of sand will come back and bite you, every 10 seconds. Best bet go to the emergency, get a couple of drops of opthmalone and a script for a couple of Vicodin, this should hold you over for the next 24 hours, eye injuries generally heal within 24 hours.

I have been welding since 1974

The best way to prevent this from ever happening is to wear the proper safety equipment, and shielding in your environment, screens, proper shades of glass, either a #10, 11, or , 12. With or without cheaters. Putting up screens to protect others that are around you when you are welding. I know this, when I used to weld, I would drop my hood and be in my own world not concerned of my surroundings, after proper training and years of experience have disciplined myself to be aware of my surroundings, more importantly the people around me.

Nothing works as fast and good as maple bark tea. Maples grow everywhere so pick a bigger limb and peel off a big handful of bark and boil it for about 20 minutes then strain well, let it cool then soak a rag in it and put a few drops in your eyes then lay the rag over your eyes. Maple bark cures most any eye problems very quickly. Ive used it my whole life for especially pink eye and it usually is healed in a few hours. My boyfriend got welders flash burned and he tried the potatoes until i got there with the tea and he said it gave him relief immediately where the potatoes did nothing

I am a retired welder of 36 years. Bosch and Lomb sells a tear solution that you should keep in your car. Cheap and over the counter, (ebay). That should get you to the E.R. where they have a dropper of numbing solution followed by a bottle of eye drops that dilate your pupils and that is what helps kill the pain. Use the dilating drops as prescribed. Save the remainder if it happens again. Your eyes heal quick so if you need a cool cloth for comfort until you fall asleep that is up to you and your pain level. The harsh sandy feeling will go away best when your eyes are closed and you fall asleep.

Urine works... Sounds crazy but works
