This is an old Russian Remedy. HEat milk with one tablespoon of butter and one tablespoon of honey. Then drink it while it is still very hot. This will coat your throat making it feel better, and the heat will make swelling go down. this is not only effective but also very tastey.

trying it now...hope it works by tomorrow! I had to use syrup because we didn't have honey, hopefully it'll still work. surprisingly tastes pretty good, almost like oatmeal

Im sorry but im not sure this will help. Milk promotes mucus production...Butter, also being a dairy product, will produce mucus. Honey, being melted, wont really make a difference either...

Okay, so yesterday I got an awful sore throat. I would wake up in the middle of the night because of this thing! So, I tried this, and IT WORKED WONDERS! It also tasted great. My Sore throat is fully gone, but I am even sipping on this just because it tastes so good! THANK YOU!

I read through almost all of the comments. I decided to give this a fair shot either way and that I would offer my opinion.

Sore throat remedies, I read up online allover. Two very common and very opposite remedies are
1) Keep drinking hot liquids and
2) Eat frozen juice pops/popsicles.
It's all about finding what works for you, I suppose...

I do not think this remedy is a waste. It soothes the burn and the scratchiness of a sore throat. However, I must agree that the mucous part of the sore throat (which is usually the cause of a sore throat in the first place - Google 'post nasal drip') is still around.

My throat is soothed, but the phlegm/mucous is still there. I do not feel this was a waste, though! It did taste good (yep, like popcorn! if you don't like popcorn, you might as well not bother with this unless you're going to add coco to it), I put in extra honey, a pinch of sugar, and a little bit of Brandy.

I would not say this is an instant remedy, but it does seem to almost instantly soothe the scratchiness/burn, which is a plus!! I say it's worth giving this a shot!

Just made this for my husband, had a terrible sore throat and was hoarse. It worked as soon as he drank it! He sounds better and he feels better, now he's sleeping like a baby. Added more honey for taste, highly recommended!

Well, I tried this hoping it would work. It didn't taste too bad, but since I'm pregnant too much milk makes my stomach turn. Unfortuately it didn't work for me. But my sore throat is still here reaking havoc. Might have to wait this one out.
