After 20 years of insomnia misery with RLS and after trying every supplement under the sun, I tried a cup of warm Malt Ovaltine before bed and it really works for me. I sometimes still wake up about 2 am and nip restlessness in the bud with another small snack, maybe 6 oz milk & 1 T peanut butter. This routine has truly changed my life. (I had always believed it was unhealthy to eat after dinner. Wrong!!)

Like me this might not work for some cause Dairy causes my legs to get worse.

IN RESPONSE TO MAXINE, I HOPE I AM DOIN THIS PROPERLY ( FACT IS I AM A POSTING VIRGIN) IT NEVER OCCURED TO ME THAT MY OVELTINE AND PEANUT BUTTER HELPED MY RLS; BUT LOOKING BACK, IT CERTAINLY DID. MAYBE IM NOT CRAZY AFTER ALL. THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS THEY HAVE BEEN GREATLY RECIEVED AND APPRECIATED.

Drinking a glass of milk and a small snack does help me when it's bothering me, followed by a hot shower.

Eating releases dopamine into your bloodstream. Therefore, even though a snack will help at first, you're entering a vicious circle of over-eating to feel tired enough to sleep. Beware!
