ALL you need is a bath rag, sugar, rubber band, and some water.Get the rag and lay it open and put a heaping tablespoon of sugar in the center of it.Then put the rubber band around the rag to hold the sugar in place. After doing that Run some warm water over it (enough to wet the dampen it)then place the rag in your mouth where the tooth is.May seem strange be it truly works.

Okay, lots of hate here over the comment... but do people realize that SUGAR as well as *salt* are a preservative? Bacterium can't live in an 'over sweet' condition.

I haven't personally tried this remedy myself, but a load of sugar is going to do a couple of things --- a) stop most bacterial growth and b) possible shock some nerves into a mini-local diabetic coma.... so it's feasible....

Not very healthy for the teeth, but not also a dead wrong ailment... see the post where the person gets help from some Hershey's. It's not the coca... it's the sugar (and salt, and sealing properties against air, etc).

Just my thoughts... and NEVER kill the messenger. <grin>

Forgot to put this on my comment...

Which do you think preserves beef jerky more, the sugar, or the salt?

Beef jerky only got 'sweet tasting' when sugar production industries made it economical to use this chrystaline-based preservative as widely available as salt --- and a much more palatable product...

Why do you think honey has something like a 40 year shelf life? It's almost pure sugar (natural) and has tremendous anti-bacterial properties.

Honey, can syrup, and even molasses have been used for years and salves for wounds to prevent infection.

Give the poster a break <grin>... probably tastes better than the onion/garlic/oregano oil remedies (although I really like garlic --- I just would hate to have a weekend of tooth pain and then get to my dentist and have him fall down passed out from my onion/garlic breath... hehehe...

Okay, one more post, I meant cane sugar, not can sugar, and although I'm not recommending a sugar wash/pack for the tooth, if you haven't got the others, give it a try....

I hate to say it, but this could work. I know it is insane; but the sugar will kill the infection. However, that is no reason to try this. You think your tooth hurts now, it will be ten times worse later. The cause of the pain will shift from infection to sugar. Just use salt, or may of the other remedies here. I used the onion one and it helped me. I've need a root canal for five years now.
