Get the finest ash from burnt charcoal, mix it with your toothpaste thoroughly, then brush the mixture very slowly and very lightly on your teeth. Do the brushing for 10 minutes. The base chemical on the ash is a powerful stain remover.

Yikes! All I know is that lye is made from ash. You know..Lye...drain cleaner.

It is not the chemical that is doing it, it's actually the abrasiveness of the charcoal. Although it does work, it will also grind away the enamel on your teeth.

I am Cree First Nation. My mother and her family used burnt charcoal, from healthy trees, and her teeth were so beautifully white. Especially, when she went on canoe trips and she never had a problem with erosion to her teeth. I add it to my toothpaste and also a mixture of baking soda, peroxide and salt and presto, beautiful white teeth!

I don't know if I'd do this; it might depend on how your teeth are naturally. I know that I have thin enamel, so rubbing with anything abrasive would probably do more harm than good.
