I have just taken a course of antibiotics (Metronidazole) and the problem is worse than it was before. I have read about alkaline diets and I'm sure it is excessive acid and alcohol that is causing this. I used apple cider vinegar to try to get rid of genital warts (it almost worked, my god it hurt. FYI I swear by Lysine and Vit C, cold sore remedies, to keep this at bay. Medication worked in the end but my skin is still tender from the process). I'm going to try the following: Soak tampon in mix of 50/50 apple cider vinegar and water. Insert, wait 15 mins, then remove. Repeat every 2-3 days. I have noticed the presence of yoghurt in my diet makes improvements too. Wish me luck, and I wish you all luck too, as we know this is a horrible and frustrating thing to go through! xxx

What kind of yogurt did you use, if I may ask?

I haven't tried the yoghurt topically, just in my diet. I would suppose you want something sugar free, with a high count of acidophilus as this is the bacteria that is supposed to combat BV. I imagine that cutting down on sugar will generally help to keep it at bay. I have quite a holistic approach so I think a good diet is going to help regardless. I am considering trying antibiotics again, alongside the apple cider vinegar treatment. It had an immediate effect but unfortunately has not eliminated the problem although it is definitely a lot better! I don't know why every doctor doesn't recommend this as it instantly made me so much more comfortable.

Try the kefir yogurt. Its tart but worked for me. I drink one cup a day to keep things balanced with some otc pills by naturemade. Digestive probiotics + multivitamins.
