Lube, lube, lube!

Most of my experience is about friction. Friction causes mine, so my remedies are about reducing it.

If you can afford it, get an electronic bidet. This is a toilet seat that squirts warm water so you don't need to use paper. If you need to use paper, make sure its wet, never dry. Except for when you dab dry (either from the bidet or wet TP).

When washing, avoid applying soaps that dry out your skin. Natural oils get stripped away, increasing friction. Gentle is better, gentle soap, gentle scrubbing, gentle rinsing, gentle drying. Don't wipe with a dry towel, use a hair drier set to cool or warm.

Apply lubricant after every shower and every bowel movement. Shea butter inside and out melts into a long lasting oil and promotes healing. Get or make the whipped version for easy application. Apply a dollop to a pair of fingers (covered with tissue or glove), get as much inside as you can and the outside will get covered at the same time. Gently wipe off the excess.

Make sure you're getting enough minerals. One of the reasons that bath salts are effective is that you absorb magnesium through your skin. Consider magnesium, potassium, calcium supplements. Coconut water is a great source of all three.
