Hell ya, vicodin. I like oxycontin better. That stuff works fine for my tooth ache. To hell with the bowl of water and ice, bring on the painkillers. If I have to feel such pain, I might as well enjoy getting rid of it, right?? Ha Ha

worst pain ever? obviously, you've never pushed an 8 pound human being out of your vagina.

Taking that much ibuprofen is insane. It isn't exactly good for your liver and your liver fights infection. Hardly the thing you want to do while trying to fight an infection.

'Most symptoms are an excess of the pharmacological action of ibuprofen and include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, headache, tinnitus, and nystagmus. Rarely more severe symptoms such as gastrointestinal bleeding, seizures, metabolic acidosis, hyperkalaemia, hypotension, bradycardia, tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, coma, hepatic dysfunction, acute renal failure, cyanosis, respiratory depression, and cardiac arrest have been reported.'

I've had a 10 lb baby, and a tootache is by far the worse pain I've ever felt. I'd rather be in labor.

I completely agree - labor is way less painful than a toothache. This stinks!!

I have had 4 babies naturally and this tooth pain is by far WORSE than labor!

Tooth pain is so much worse than the labor pains. I've had 2 babies and the first I had EXTREMELY bad back labor. I seriously wish I was in labor right now over this throbbing tooth pain.

When my wisdom teeth became impacted, the dentist told me to take 800 - 1200 mg ibuprofen every 6 hours. However, he also suggested I see an oral surgeon ASAP to get them removed and not to take the high doses of ibuprofen for more than 1 week. Yes, it is hard on the stomach and can cause a LOT of other health problems if taken in large doses for extended periods of time - BUT doctors and dentists do sometimes prescribe it in very large doses for intense pain. One standard typical prescription strength ibuprofen tablet is 800 mg (there are probably multiple dosages, but this is the norm) and taking the equivalent in OTC can be less costly and more easily accessible.
