If you are averse to seeing a doctor as I am, here are some survival techniques. No matter how tired, do not sleep in - I have to be up no later than 8:00 AM. No naps during the day and no caffeine after noon. Take up to 1,000 mg of Ibuprofen before bed. Ibuprofen does nothing for the RLS, but at least it takes away other aches and pains. SLEEP ON THE FLOOR. The hardness of the floor pressing abainst the muscles in my legs, gives me some relief. I am 54 and have not slept in a bed for close to 25 years. If I do all of this and am VERY VERY lucky, I can be asleep by 1:00 AM if I go to bed at 11:00 PM. However it is a crap shoot and very often I am still awake til around 3:00 to 4:00 AM. RLS is a medical condition and if the definition of a home remedy is something that you can do without a prescription, then there is no home remedy for RLS.

I don't like going to the doctor either, plus can't afford the doctor or the meds!! I have had RLS all my life as well and have found no relief. I am up no it is almost 3 am. no sleep yet. this is terrible.

I feel your pain Teresa. You say that you are up til 3:00. My cycle for a while was two nights up til 3:00 or 4:00 AM and then the third night I could get some rest out of shear exhaustion. My wife who is asleep within seconds of her head hitting the pillow would consider a good night's sleep for me to be a dreadfully horrible night for her. All I know is that I am 54 and this has gotten a lot worse in the last three or four years. I have found that if I slip up and drink cafeine, sometimes it effects my sleep and just as often it does not. Same goes for alcohol. Oh well, evey night is an ordeal. I am the guy asleep sitting on a bench someplace and people are laughing at me. Our family friends and acquaintainces have photos of me asllep most everywhere.

I have had RLS for 20 years and RLS meds make me sick. I now use the CP Relief Wand every night. It deadens the RLS nerve. I sleep like a baby. Instruction how to use the Wand for RLS can be found by web searching 'How to use the CP Relief Wand'.

Please be careful taking that much ibuprofen. You should take it as prescribed on the bottle. It can cause kidney problems.
