Taken from a medical article, as quoted below.

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), naproxen sodium (Anaprox, Aleve), or ketoprofen (Orudis), often help. Take NSAIDs daily starting one to two days before your period, and continue regularly through your heaviest days. Use the lowest dose that gives you results. The NSAIDs have definitely been shown to decrease menstrual blood loss because of their ability to interrupt excess prostaglandin F2-alpha.

I've tried it because I'm due for an ultrasound soon, but have been bleeding excessively for over 2 months so far and still going. I take nurofen and during the hours of its efficiency (6 to 8 hours), I have next to no bleeding. It does come back once the drug's potency is gone though. It's not a cure for the actual problem, just something to help you on the days you need to be up and about :)

I have been bleeding continuously since 09/16/2015 with no end in sight. I read some forums online that said Vitex and red raspberry helps with prolonged menstrual bleeding. So I purchased vitex and raspberry tinctures that I have been taking 3 times a day along with an iron supplement twice a day and my flow is starting to get lighter. I was bleeding through an ULTRA tampon within 2 hours and now I can wear a tampon for 6 hours with no leaks. Hopefully this bleeding will end soon.

The NSAIDS will stop working, for some atleast. The first time I tried Ibuprofen, 800 mg every 4 hours, it work and ended my period. Once it returned I went through 3 bottles (I know shame on me) and im just constantly bleeding. Take it from me ladies and try other alternatives or go to the doctor.

I'm a 44 y.o. since I started my periods I've been irregular, however after marrying and having a baby my periods became regular and without problems. About a year ago started noticing changes as decrease in duration which kind of made me happy but few months ago not only decreased in duration but in amount one of my periods is too short and just spots and the heavy one became spotting at the beginning and then 2 days heavy and was over, last month I had my short one with absolutely lack of blood and just brown spotting but lasted for several days, finally ended and rested 3 weeks to start last Monday with 2 days normal and heavy bleeding since the 3rd day which lasted 5 days this last Monday I took some Ibuprofen 800mg and packed on Vitamin C and coriander and turmeric infusion, this morning finally stopped just to have the surprise that tonight I'm bleeding with clots again. Don't know what to do.specially without insurance.
