I found out a couple of months ago that I have GH. I do not have insurance, so I had gone to the emergency room after the pain and sores got so bad I couldn't take it. It only took a week. I was lucky enough on my SECOND emergency room visit to get a doctor that included refills on my prescription of Acyclovir. My issue is that every time I finish a ten day course, I have an outbreak again! I do everything I'm supposed to do, I haven't had any sex of any kind since I first presented with symptoms. I wear loose fitting cotton clothing, I have always been very particular about feminine hygiene, I don't smoke, I stopped drinking completely, I take Echinacea every day, but it never fails a few days after I finish a course of pills, I'm in agony. I started another ten day course today and I have ONE refill left and then I have no idea what I'm going to do. Going to the emergency room every time I run out is just putting me another $400 in debt per visit. I never thought this would happen to me, but now I need to figure out how to deal with it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you, in advance.

I am in my 50s and have had gh for many years after much trial and error i use witchazel to relieve soreness and itching nyal cold sore cream camphor/menthol heals and soothes followed by an aclovyr cream to minimise the duration of the bouts this method is cheap highly effective and gh bouts can be dealt with comfortably with no excrutiation i swear by it

Do you have a planned parenthood clinic or even a health department in your local area? I'm not positive if they would write and cover your scripts, but they most certainly should if you qualify financially. You could have a copay for the visit and meds but they generally go according to income and use a sliding scale to determine how much you'd pay, but I know it would be a lot less than an emergency visit to the hospital once or twice a month! To be honest, that's where I would start if it were me because you might have other issues going on and that's why you're experiencing outbreaks right after your done with your treatment. I'm NOT a Dr and NOT trying to give any medical advice so with that said, do you have any autoimmune issues that is causing your immune system to be lower than normal, other than the outbreaks, such as a thyroid condition? Again, I'm NOT a Dr., but rather just throwing out an idea and trying to help. I have had my fair share of this same issue and still experiencing issues and still searching for the 'perfect' remedy myself but I will say that Valtrex has lessened the amount of time for the outbreaks for me. Has anyone tried coconut oil by chance? I use that for the blisters that I get on my lip and side of my cheek and it is soothing plus helps to prevent scars and can help to fade current scars as well. Emu oil is also really good for healing, as well as olive oil, jojoba oil, etc., but I'm referring to the facial blisters, NOT the genital issues! I can't speak on that as I've not used the oils for that but you can read up on it to see if and how well it would work! At this point, it's pretty much grasping for anything that will help treat these suckers so there could be something that would help the symptoms and ward it off by using natural essential oils but definitely read up on it before trying ANY of them for genital treatment! Anyway, please do yourself a favor and check your area for a planned parenthood, health department, health clinic that goes on a sliding scale/fee schedule because it will decrease the amount you pay drastically and you can see if there's any other issues that you might have going on as well. I wish you and everyone else here on this site the best of luck and a safe, healthy and Happy New Year!

You should have an STD Clinic in (or near) ur area (run a search) ~ the one in my area (Tampa) charges $35 for office visit & they test for EVERY STD: whatever STD u test positive for, they treat u for FREE (or give u filled prescription; aka FREE)!!!
However, if u say u can't afford the office visit, they do not charge u anythin.
AGAIN, run a search on STD Clinics in ur area and I'm sure ull find one.
Also, Family Health Centers are very affordable ($45 office visit and $10.20 for 30 day supply of 500 mg Valtrex/generic brand!) Not sure if FHC are exclusive to Florida but certainly worth a search! I would love to send u some from my rx, cuz at different points in my own life I've been too embarrassed/depressed to even go to dr, so I know EXACTLY what ur going thru, physically and emotionally~ and those mental thoughts stress u out leading to yet another OB, And the vicious process repeats its self yet again....bullsh*t, uggg so frustrating!!!
I'VE BEEN THERE!!!! Hope this helps u!!!
