Prunes are a great source of natural fibre, as are most fruits and vegetables as long as they are eaten WITH the skin of the fruit or veg. It's the skin that contains the roughage in most cases. However this is why it is so important to wash all fruit and veg thoroughly before eating. Not just to avoid infection (from little beasties or flies) but also to remove as many of the pesticides which may have been used to grow them. Due to the high natural sugar content of prunes, I would not recommend them for sufferers of Type I or Type II Diabetes.
