A few days ago was what I thought to be the worst day of my life, I was diagnosed with genital herpes (HSV-2). I am 19 years old and have not slept with many men nor do I sleep around. I was taken advantage of two weeks ago while intoxicated by a man who I have not spoken to since. Since I have been diagnosed, I have not left my bed because I am in such severe pain. I can barely walk and tried my hardest not to pee because I would cry it was so excruciating. I have been through numerous painful scenarios and have a VERY high pain tolerance but this is the WORST pain I have ever been in. I am sure during your first outbreak or any others, most of you are in the same boat as far as pain during urination. Within the past few days, I have attempted several things to make peeing less painful. I peed in a warm bath tub, I peed in a warm bath tub while holding ice to my sores, I tried standing up while peeing directly into my toilet attempting to avoid the urine from hitting my sores, and I poured cold water down my vagina while peeing. All these methods helped but in the smallest way. Peeing was still IMPOSSIBLE. Finally, I decided to take a water bottle and insert it into my vagina similar to inserting a tampon but of course I do not push it any further than just having the tip of the water bottle entering the hole. THIS HAS BEEN MY LIFE SAVER. I can finally urinate with barely any pain. Unfortunately, I also have the herpes spreading to my anus so I have yet to have any bowel movements because of how painful it is and cannot use the water bottle trick for there lol. But please try this trick for peeing if you are in my shoes!!!!!!!

I never thought of a water bottle, that's brilliant. I was in such severe pain and thought I could push through it that I ended up in the hospital due to going in continuous shock. the doctor there was horrible. he was crude. although he did tell me to try sitting over a bucket of warm water or peeing in a warm bath, he wouldn't tell me what I had. he kept beating around the bush and lead me to believe it was a reaction to a yeast infection, as people can get sores and herpes like side effects. I ended up having to go back to the hospital two days later after not being able to urinate. I called telehealth and explained my situation and asked if they thought I could get a catheher. they told me they were faxing a report at that moment to the hospital to make sure I got one. getting the catheter is a whole nother horrific story as they nurse let a student nurse try several times before she finally did it. I ended up with homecare 24/7 with a nurse for two weeks and had a catheter for ten days. I asked the nurse directly what she thought I had and she to just rambled a bit with no answer. both the doctor and nurse said to see my family doctor. she looked for two seconds and said it could only be herpes and that it was the worst she'd ever seen. the hospital gave me a bottle of viscous lidocaine. it hurts like a mother when you put it on, then instant relief for a little bit. I use it after I pee. I have had one other outbreak, but have been given a prescription for meds with multiple refills to take when I feel it coming on. I didn't know what it would feel like so it took me two days to figure it out. so with the medication it took a bit longer to heal since I let it start for abit before figuring it out. I got it through oral sex with my boyfriend, whose never had an outbreak on his mouth, but apparently has it and transmitted it through his saliva to my genitals. Talk about misfortune! I'm sorry for the way it happened to you, and that it did at all. I keep an arsenal of supplements like lyseine and acidophilus, as well as a few others. I keep 2% viscous lidocaine on hand, disposible gloves and zinc cream.

Diaper rash cream, yes. I was hospitalized with my first outbreak and needed a urinary catheter for 4 days. It was the most excruciating pain I had ever felt. If you have a water bottle that you can squirt while peeing (like the one you get from the hospital after having a baby) that helps too. Also, Domboro (sp?) soaks alleviate the pain and dry out the soars. You can squirt it on your perineum or do a sitz bath.

Please take Lysine. This will help with the breakouts. As time goes on your body will build up some immunities to Herpes and your breakouts should not be so frequent or painful. Avoid eating nuts or anything with nuts . . . there is something in them that causes flareups. It gets better.

when i had my first outbreak, i got it from a guy that was sleeping around on me and stole from and lied to me. i literally wanted to die. i thought my life was over. i know the feeling about the peeing being so painful. i had white ulcers inside my labia. as soon as the pee would touch them, it would jump back into my bladder because of the pain. then i would scream and cry every time so loud that my parents heard me and i could hear them talking that i needed to go to the doctor to get help. they thought i had a uti. i got a topical lidocaine gel and i cant remember what else i did that made it better. i think i started peeing in a position that was standing up and leaning forward and then i stretched my labia out so that the pee would come straight from my urethra down instead of going back and hitting the sores. it was so much better. after that, i average 1-2 outbreaks a year but due to stress, i had had more this year. after the first one, i never got the white ulcers again. then the second one was painful but not nearly anything close. the rest are fine. i did get a weird outbreak inside my labia last time which i never get (always blisters on skin), and they tend to be smaller and fewer each time. i take lysine and it works great but i always forget to take it every day so i need to remember. i also take magnesium, vitamin c, and zinc. make sure you wash and dry and dont wear underwear to sleep and then use tea tree oil. i used it and it made me last one go away. i also took Famciclover the first time because i read it can reduce the recurring outbreaks when taken the first time. i get them hardly ever. since this is my 3rd or 4th outbreak in a calendar year, i am maybe going to tell my doctor and ask for it. my test came back negative so as far as my gynecologist knows, i dont have it.

also try a shallow warm bath with baking soda- my first breakout i was in the exact situation. the baking soda neutralizes to acid from the urine and makes life mildy bearable

Try urinating thru an empty toilet paper roll. I read this ages ago and it was recommended by a doctor.
