I developed this out of the blue, read many posts and potential cures, but no results. Then one day I remembered a tube of a medication I had gotten from my dermatologist a year earlier when I contacted poisonwood on a Bahamas vacation. Clobetasol Propionate Cream, USP, 0.05%. I thought OK what have I got to lose and tried it on the chelitis. GONE in 2 days! Has never returned.

Clobetasol propionate is a corticosteroid cream. It's generally only used for non-pathogen invasions because it works by suppressing the inflammation response, not by killing microbial organisms. It's possible to only mask the effects of the infection with a steroid.

I also had the same problem and the dermatologist prescribed clotrimazole and betamothasone and it cleared up overnight!!

FYI, I use clobetasol propionate for severe allergic contact dermatitis and I was told that it should not be used on the face. It's a really strong corticosteroid and apparently it can cause discoloration and other issues.
