Dry Socket Home Remedy Comments

2 Comments for the Dry Socket Home Remedy

Do not disturb the tooth extracted area, do not touch it with your tongue or fingers.
Do not smoke, do not have alcoholic beverage or use a mouthwash for at least 24 hrs
Avoid rinsing your mouth for 24 hours after the extraction. After that gently rinse your mouth 4 times a day with warm salt water.
Do not spit or suck through a straw for 24 hrs or do not any heavy work that will put pressure on the area. If you do feel like spitting, let the excess saliva gently drip out of your mouth. DO NOT spit forcefully as this may dislodge the blood clot resulting in complications(dry socket)
Do not brush directly on the extraction site for 3-4 days after the extraction to prevent the blood clot from dislodging.
For the first 24 hours, go on a soft and cool diet. Avoid eating till the numbness has worn off and eat on the opposite to avoid from accumulating into the extraction site
For the first 24 hours activity should be limited as it can lead to increased bleeding.
Pain that lasts for a few days but which is gradually improving should be considered typical. Pain that I getting worse after 2 days is abnormal and may need to be checked by your dentist.
To prevent post operative swelling, apply an ice pack or cold towel to your face in the area of the extraction for the first 12-24 hrs. Apply alternatively, 15 minutes on and 15 minutes off. Do not repeat after 24 hrs.
